Purpose : This paper attempts to understand the influence of appropriability of core technologies, overall technological capabilities of the firm, and network activities for the use of external resources, on entrepreneurial performance of technology startups. Research design, data, methodology : The study was verified in October and November, 2020 with 124 valid questionnaires excluding missing values in 163 surveys of founders and startup members of technology startups centered in Seoul TechnoPark clusters. Results : The analysis shows that appropriability has significant impact especially on market networks, which are links within the supply chain. It can be understood that appropriability's function of signalizing technological competence and function of coordinating technology cooperation have more profound impact on activating the network than technology protection does, which is the basic function of appropriability. Conclusions : Technology startups can improve their overall technological capabilities and achieve their entrepreneurial performance by procuring external resources and information, especially through market network activities, with their own ability to appropriate core technology assets. Therefore, in fostering technology start-up companies and born globals, it is necessary to strengthen support on various aspects of appropriability and network activities.

본 논문은 핵심기술의 전유성, 기업의 전반적 기술능력 및 외부 자원 활용을 위한 네트워크 활동이 기술창업기업의 창업성과에 미치는 영향관계를 파악하고자 한다. 연구는 2020년 10월과 11월에 서울테크노파크 중심 기업집단의 기술창업기업의 창업자 및 창 업멤버를 대상으로 수집한 163개의 설문에서 결측치를 제외한 124개의 유효한 데이터로 검증 하였다. 분석결과 전유성은 여러 네트워크 중에서도 공급사슬 내부의 연계인 시장네트워크에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나고 있다. 이는 전유성이 기본 기능인 기술보호의 기능뿐만 아니 라 부가기능인 기술역량의 신호기능 및 기술협력의 조정수단의 기능 등이 유효하게 작용하여 네트워크를 활성화시키는 것으로 이해할 수 있다. 기술창업기업은 핵심기술자산에 대한 전유능력으로 특히 시장네트워크 활동을 통해 외부자원 및 정보를 조달함으로써 총체적 기술역량을 향상시키고 창업성과를 달성할 수 있다. 따라서 기술창업기업과 태생적 글로벌기업의 육성에 있어서 전유성과 네트워크 활동에 대한 다양한 측면의 지원을 강화할 필요가 있다.
