The study of the origins of Northeast Asians is surprisingly developing with the integration of genetic knowledge and technology into the field of anthropology. The ancient history of Northeast Asia is essentially linked to the origins and migration of Chinese, Korean and Japanese people. Molecular anthropology reveals new information on East Asian and Northeast Asian groups, providing opportunities for new historical interpretation of Northeast Asian ancient times. On the origin and migration of East Asian groups, which are at least based on molecular anthropological analysis, the academic community of Korea, China, and Japan has a similar conclusion. However, the interpretation of the Korean, Chinese and Japanese historians is far from the results of molecular anthropology. How historians accept the achievements of molecular anthropology and how to proceed with collaboration will be a key task in the future of molecular anthropology and historical studies.

인류 및 동북아인의 기원을 연구하는 인류학은 새로운 유전학 기술을 받아들인 분자인류학이라는 새로운 융합학문의 성과에 힘입어 놀라운 속도로 발전하고 있다. 동북아 고대사는 본질적으로 한국인ㆍ중국인ㆍ일본인의 기원 및 이주와 긴밀히 연결되어 있다. 분자인류학이 새롭게 밝혀내고 있는 동아시아인 집단 및 동북아인 집단에 대한 새로운 정보들은 동북아의 고대에 대해 새로운 역사해석의 기회를 제공하고 있다. 적어도 분자인류학적 분석을 근거로 한 동아시아인 집단의 기원 및 이동에 대해서 한ㆍ중ㆍ일 학계의 결론은 대동소이하다. 하지만 한ㆍ중ㆍ일 역사학계의 해석은 분자인류학이 도출해낸 결과와는 큰 거리가 있다. 분자인류학의 성과를 역사학계가 어떻게 받아들이고, 협업을 진행할지가 향후 분자인류학과 역사학의 핵심 과제가 될 것이다.
