This study examined the relationship between Buyeo and Chinese dynasties during the period from the second century B.C. to the first century A.D. There is a great lack of literary records on the relationship between Buyeo and Chinese dynasties during this period. However, confirmations are being made of a number of archaeological artifacts that prove the relationship of exchange that existed between these two parties during this period. At this, this study focused on the ‘Seal of the King of Ye(濊王之印)’, which had not been examined in detail in past studies of Buyeo history along with the ‘King of Buyeo’, shown in Hagujung(瑕邱仲) tales on LieXian Zhuan(列仙傳) and it analyzed the relationship between Buyeo and Chinese dynasties from the second century B.C. to the early first century A.D. First, analyses of the ‘Seal of the King of Ye’ were used as clues and examinations were made of the formation process of the relationship between Buyeo and earlier Han in the period from late B.C. to early A.D. As a result, it is assumed that a close relationship was formed between Buyeo and earlier Han due to the war between Han and Gojoseon around the time of 109～108 B.C.. Also, examinations were made of the possibility that there were diplomatic negotiations between Buyeo and earlier Han in the B.C. period through tales of Hagujung that state that he acted as an express messenger to the king of Buyeo(夫餘胡王) during the later period of earlier Han. It was verified that afterwards, even among situational changes of China that occurred from late B.C. to early A.D. when dynasties were changing from earlier Han to new dynasties after Buyeo, Buyeo avoided conflict with Chinese powers and tried to maintain good relationships. Through such examinations, conclusions could be made that Buyeo accomplished external stability within close relationships with Chinese dynasties from the second century B.C. to the first century A.D. and that based on this, it was able to reach its prime during the first and second centuries A.D..

본 논문은 기원전 2세기로부터 기원후 1세기 초반까지 부여와 중원왕조의 관계에 대해 검토한 것이다. 이 시기 부여와 중원왕조의 관계를 살필 수 있는 문헌 기록은 매우 부족한 반면, 양자의 교류 관계를 증명하는 고고학적 유물들은 다수 확인되고 있다. 따라서 척박한 사료 환경일지라도 여기에 대한 역사학적 검토가 이루어질 필요가 있다. 이에 이 글에서는 지금까지 부여사 연구와 관련하여 자세히 검토되지 않았던 ‘濊王之印’과 󰡔列仙傳󰡕의 瑕邱仲 설화에 보이는 ‘夫餘胡王’에 주목하고, 이를 바탕으로 기원전 2세기로부터 기원후 1세기 초반까지 부여와 중원왕조의 관계에 대해 접근해보고자 하였다. 먼저 ‘濊王之印’에 대한 분석을 실마리 삼아 기원전 시기 부여와 前漢의 관계 형성과정을 검토하였다. 그 결과 기원전 109～108년 무렵 漢과 고조선의 전쟁을 계기로 부여와 前漢 사이에 긴밀한 정치적 관계가 성립하였을 것으로 추정하였다. 또 前漢 시기에 夫餘胡王의 驛使로 활동하였다는 ‘瑕邱仲 설화’를 통해 기원전 시기 부여와 前漢의 외교적 교섭이 지속적으로 이루어졌을 가능성을 검토하였다. 끝으로 前漢으로부터 新으로 왕조가 교체되는 기원 전후 시기 中原의 정세 변동 속에서도 부여는 中原 세력과의 갈등을 피하고 원만한 관계를 유지하려 했음을 확인하였다. 이상의 검토를 통해 부여가 기원전 2세기로부터 기원후 1세기 초반까지 중원왕조와의 긴밀한 관계를 형성하면서 대외적 안정을 이루었고, 이것이 기원후 1～2세기에 걸쳐 부여가 전성기를 맞이할 수 있었던 한 요인이 되었을 것으로 보았다.
