This study is an attempt to record the changes in the academic environment of Korean traditional music caused by the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, it suggested a way to establish a safe and efficient Korean traditional music academic environment in the pandemic era. The National Research Foundation of Korea, a national institution that specializes in managing basic and original research support, extends the research period or conducts the evaluation method online (non-face-to-face) in consideration of the spread of COVID-19 infection, and a plan for securing flexibility in funding expenditure according to research delays was prepared to support academic activities of individual researchers and academic organizations. Korean traditional music researchers face various difficulties due to changes in the research environment, such as limited access to materials and literature, limited research space, limited interviews with experts, and reduced opportunities for academic presentations. It is very difficult to use books in paper form as before in closed library systems, especially in epidemic situations. We need to build a new digital research foundation suitable for the epidemic era of rapidly changing academic environments. The Korean traditional music online conference was also held online. Online academic events combined with digital technology can be a safer and more efficient place for academic advancement.

2020년 코로나19 팬데믹으로 인한 국악 학술 환경의 변화를 기록하고, 팬데믹 시대의 안전하 고 효율적인 국악 학술 환경 구축 방안을 제안해 보았다. 한국연구재단은 코로나19 감염확산 상황을 고려해서 평가방식을 온라인(비대면)으로 진행하 고 연구기간의 연장 및 연구비 집행 유연성 확보 방안을 마련해서 개인 연구자와 학술단체의 학술활동을 지원하였다. 국악 연구자는 자료 및 문헌 활용의 제약, 연구 공간의 제약, 전문가 현장 대면 자문의 제약, 학술 발표 기회 축소 등 연구 환경의 변화로 다양한 어려움을 겪고 있다. 특히 팬데믹 시대, 폐가식 으로 운영되는 도서관에서 서적을 예전처럼 이용하기 매우 어려운 상황이다. 학술 환경이 급변한 팬데믹 시대에 적합한 새로운 디지털 연구 토대 구축이 요구된다. 국악 학술행사도 대부분 비대면 온라인으로 개최되었는데, 디지털 기술과 결합된 온라인 학술 대회는 학문 발전을 위한 더 안전하고 효율적인 장이 되고 있다.
