Suicide is the most extreme of the various social phenomena we can experience, and it is highly likely that we will be sick even if we limit it to a group of civil servants, especially police officers, within society. This study recognized the importance of research on the idea of suicide of police officers in this background and wanted to identify factors that affect the idea of suicide. Specifically, factors affecting the idea of police officers committing suicide were identified, focusing on stress and vulnerability models. The scope and scope of the research, which had been suggested as the limitations of the existing prior studies, were expanded to include the entire police officers in the study, and the logistic return analysis was conducted by setting stress and depression as independent variables and suicidal thoughts as subordinate variables by utilizing the latest data for empirical verification among the published data. The analysis shows that stress and depression have a significant static effect on suicidal thoughts. Based on these findings, it suggests what should be the first priority in solving problems related to police officers' thoughts on suicide. Specifically, police officials themselves should encourage passive willingness to improve the current state of depression, and in line with this, the organization should also move toward easing the policy-tight organizational culture. In addition, efforts should be made to minimize the occurrence of welfare blind spots within the police organization by gradually increasing the budget for police-related mental health promotion.

자살이라는 현상은 우리가 겪을 수 있는 다양한 사회적 현상 중에서 가장 극단적인 현상일 것이 며 이것이 사회 안에 사회인 공무원집단 특히 경찰공무원 집단으로 한정지어 보더라도 병들어 있을 가능성이 높다고 예상할 수 있을 것이다. 이 연구는 이와 같은 배경에서 경찰공무원 자살생각에 대한 연구의 중요성을 인식하고, 자살생각 에 영향을 미치는 요인을 확인하고자 하였다. 구체적으로는 스트레스-취약성 모델을 중심으로 경찰 공무원 자살생각에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 확인하였다. 기존 선행연구들의 한계점으로 제시되었던 연구대상과 범위를 경찰공무원 전체로 확대하여 연구 대상에 포함시켰고, 공개된 자료 중 실증적 검증을 위한 가장 최근의 자료인 ‘2013 경찰복지실태조 사’ 데이터를 활용하여, 스트레스와 우울감을 독립변수로, 자살생각을 종속변수로 설정하여 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 스트레스와 우울감은 자살생각에 유의미한 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구결과는 경찰공무원의 자살생각과 관련된 문제들을 해결하는데 있어 가장 우선시 되어야 할 부분이 무엇인지 시사해 준다. 구체적으로 경찰공무원 스스로가 우울감을 가지고 있는 현 재의 상태를 개선시키려는 소극적인 의지를 고취시켜야 하며 이에 발맞춰 조직 역시 정책적으로 경 직된 조직문화를 완화시키는 방향으로 나아가야 할 것이다. 또한 경찰 관련 정신건장증진 예산을 점 진적으로 늘려가 경찰조직 내의 복지 사각지대 발생을 최소화시키는 노력이 필요하다고 할 수 있다.
