In this paper, the IABC Code of Ethics is carefully examined and suggestions for necessary changes are made to make it relevant to professional communicators in the global age. More specifically, the following questions are posed as a basis for discussion: What does “globalization” mean? Why do we need a global code of ethics? Can a global code of ethics be developed? The paper answers these questions through a review of relevant literature and provides a rationale for the suggested changes in the IABC code. Finally, the limitations of the study are discussed and suggestions for further study are made.
