The research of National Alternative Media of These days might be separated from theory illustration of Western Country and alternative approach of western country. However there is a lack of definition regarding the National Alternative Media, moreover, New media’s alternative approach is only focused on New media itself and the case study is also partial. Therefore it is hard to say that it is a research of Alternative Media research. on the contrast foreign studies of Alternative Media reflects the definition of Alternative media and also contains various case studies of Alternative media. Thus it thoughtfully penetrate its limitation and potential. Therefore this study will elaborate the researches of Natioanl alternative media for last 20 years and set the sustainable analysis goal for the future research of the Natianal Alternative media.

그동안의 국내 대안미디어와 관련된 연구는 크게 ‘서구의 대안미디어 관련 논의 정리’와 ‘뉴미디어 사례의 대안적 접근’으로 나뉠 수 있다. 그 러나 서구 이론의 답습의 치중한 반면 한국 고유의 대안미디어 개념에 대 한 정의는 미미하며, 뉴미디어의 대안적 접근은 뉴미디어 자체의 특성을 중심으로 논의되고 그 사례도 특정 미디어에 한정되어 있기 때문에 대안 미디어 연구라고 보기 애매한 부분이 있다. 반면 국외 대안미디어 연구는 지속적인 대안미디어 개념 정의와 다양한 사례연구를 통하여 대안미디어 의 문제점과 가능성을 탐색하고 있다. 본 논문은 지난 20여 년간 진행되 어온 국내 대안미디어 연구의 현황과 특징을 파악을 통하여 한국의 대안 미디어 연구의 문제점 발견 및 후속연구의 분석방향 및 개념 규정에 보탬 이 되고자 한다. 이를 위해 연구자는 1984년부터 2010년까지 주요 저널에 발행된 국내외 대안미디어 선행연구를 일반적 현황, 사례연구, 대안미디어 개념 정의라는 분석항목에 기초하여 메타분석의 형식을 통해 그 내용을 비교분석하였다.
