This case study is conducted based on an error analysis and the employment of corrective feedback on Korean EFL learners. This research closely looks at the two respective intermediate second language learners' written journals and analyzes common grammatical errors. In the process of research, the participants receive different types of corrective feedback on their grammatical mistakes and the researcher tries to see if there has been any improvement in their developmental stage. This paper further provides explanation on the categories of the grammatical errors made by the learners these errors discussed in the paper are verb pattern & passive/active voice, articles, phrasal verb & verb+preposition, modal, overuse of 'that' relative clause, and other errors. Based on the findings, the researcher suggests that the students' errors can provide helpful ideas for students' interlanguage and raise students' awareness on their errors to prevent them from fossilizing errors. In terms of treatment of these errors, instructors should employ diverse and customized methods to teach grammar and it is more vital to incorporate grammar lesson in writing tasks rather than teaching the grammar as an isolated items am Future research is expected to include the whole error system in other skills such as speaking, reading and listening.

이 사례연구는 한국 EFL(English as Foreign Language) 학습자를 대상으로 오류분석(error analyse)과 그에 대한 교정피드백(corrective feedback) 사용에 대한 연구이다. 두 명의 중급 학습자들의 일기형식의 글 쓰기 12개를 3개월간 면밀히 관찰하여 학습자들의 빈번한 오류를 분석한 다. 이 과정 중에 각각의 참석자들은 교수자가 제공하는 서로 조금 다른 종류의 교정피드백을 받게 된다. 이 연구는 구체적으로 두 학습자들이 만 드는 문법적 오류를 분류하여 설명하고 결과에서 논의되는 문법적 오류 의 종류는 동사패턴과 수동/능동태, 관사, 동사구, 동사구와 전치사, 조동 사, ‘that' 관계절의 과다 사용 및 기타 오류가 포함된다. 이러한 결과를 근 거로, 연구자는 학생들의 오류가 학생들의 중간언어에 중요한 정보를 주며 학생들의 학생들의 오류가 화석화 되는 것을 막을 수 있도록 깨우치는 역 할을 한다고 설명한다. 이러한 오류를 처치하는데 있어서도 교수자는 다양 하고 맞춤화된 방법으로 문법을 가르쳐야 하며 특히 쓰기 기능에서는 개별 문법 항목으로 가르치기 보다는 쓰기과업 과정에 포함시켜 문법을 위한 문 법이 아닌 문법의 실사용에 대한 것을 강조하여 가르쳐야 한다. 다음 연구 에서는 말하기, 읽기, 듣기 기능에서 나타나는 오류를 함께 분석하여 살펴 보면 통찰력 있는 결과를 가져올 수 있으리라 생각한다.
