The purpose of the paper is to draw two important implications which the theory of embodied mind has to feminist philosophy. First, from the pont of theory of the embodied mind the notions of sex and gender are justified and explained in a naturalistic way by using the notion of homeostasis. Second, the theory of embodied mind has an important implication about health and disease. As is well known in WHO's definition of health, contemporary understanding of health has extended beyond a bodily dimension to a mental and a social dimension. This change in our understanding of health constructs a main background for the theory of embodied mind. According to the theory of embodied mind, human diseases occur when the relation among body, mind, and environment cannot be sustained in appropriate way. So, we have to approach women's health and disease by considering those factors. The theory of embodied mind shows us one way to overcome those dichotomies which separate humans from their environment, mind from body, and one related with gender and sex.

이 글의 목적은 체화된 마음 이론이 여성주의 철학에 대해 갖는 함축을 이끌어내는 것이다. 첫째, 체화된 마음 이론의 관점에서 보았을 때 여성과 남성의 성별은 항상성 개념을 이용하여 자연주의적 방식으로 정당화되고 설명될 수 있다. 체화된 마음 이론이 여성주의 철학에 대해 갖는 두 번째 함축은 건강과 질병에 대한 것이다. 세계보건기구(WHO)의 건강에 대한 정의를 통하여 잘 알 수 있듯이 건강에 대한 현대인의 인식은 신체적 차원을 넘어서 정신적 차원과 사회적 차원에서의 안녕을 포함하는 방향으로 확장되고 있다. 건강에 대한 이러한 인식의 변화는 체화된 마음 이론이 제기된 배경을 형성한다. 체화된 마음 이론의 관점에서 보면 인간의 질병은 몸, 마음, 환경 간의 관계가 원만하게 유지되지 못할 때 발생하므로 우리는 그러한 세 가지 요소들의 관계를 고려함으로써 여성의 건강과 질병에 관련된 문제들에 접근해야 한다. 또한 우리는 체화된 마음 이론을 통하여 인간과 환경, 마음과 몸을 구분하는 이분법과 성차와 성별과 관련된 이분법의 한계를 극복할 수 있다.
