As modern science and technology are professionalized and industrialized, they are researched into through the interaction between social and cultural factors and scientific factors. Scientists and technologists, forming gigantic experts groups, continue to expand areas of exploration and targets of research using huge amounts of research costs. In such modern science and technology fields, science research ethics loses its due goal and direction. Science and technology are increasingly distancing themselves from ethics, and this results in further heightening the barrier between natural science and humanities. However, science studies offer a channel by which to save science research ethics which has distanced itself from science and technology. The theoretical frame of science studies shows that when science research and ethics interact each other harmoniously, science and technology can maintain stability. This paper suggests that science research ethics is provided not as a mere auxiliary means of science research, but as an essential factor for ensuring the stability of science research.

현대 전문화, 산업화된 과학연구는 사회ㆍ문화적 요인과 과학적 요인이 맞물려 수행된다. 과학기술자는 거대한 전문가 집단을 형성하고, 막대한 연구비를 가지고 탐구분야와 연구대상을 계속 넓혀나간다. 이러한 현대 과학기술에서 과학연구윤리는 과학의 규범과 실천의 영역에서 해야 할 목표와 방향을 잃는다. 과학기술과 윤리의 관계는 멀어지며, 이것은 자연과학과 인문학 사이의 벽을 더욱 높게 만든다. 하지만 '과학기술학'(Science Studies)은 과학기술과 멀어진 과학연구윤리를 구하는 통로를 제공해 준다. 과학기술학은 과학연구와 윤리가 조화롭게 상호작용할 때 과학기술이 안정성을 유지할 수 있도록 이론적 틀을 제공한다. 이 글에서는 과학연구윤리가 단지 과학연구를 위한 보조적인 수단을 제공하는 것이 아니라 과학연구의 안정성을 위해 필요한 요소라는 점을 보여줄 것이다. 벗어나지 못하는 결과를 가져 오게 되었다. 이점이 바로 전병훈 철학의 한계였다.
