In this work we pursue what comprises the characteristic demands of Nietzschean perfectionism. We assume that they are implicated in the well-known idea of the transitions of the animal to man, and of man to overman. Especially we assume that the meaning of the latter transition can be explicated only in regard to the former. Following Nietzsche’s evolving idea on the distinction between man and animal, we found that he situates it in the ethical life of man (in Thus Spoke Zarathustra), and in the ability of will’s memory and the right of promise (in The Genealogy of Morals). Nietzsche thinks that the humanization occurs within a community, by means of the Mores of Custom, compelling the negation of the animality and the nature. As the result, for Nietzsche, man is above all an ascetic and a conforming herd animal. The first form of man’s spirit is that of the camel. From these considerations, we conclude that the transition into overman lies in the reconciliation with nature and in the individualism of an ethical sort.

이 글은 니체의 완전주의적 사유를 문화적 속물주의와는 거리가 먼 도덕적 완전주의의 일종으로 해석한다. 특히 그것의 의미가 동물에서 인간, 그리고 다시 위버멘쉬로의 이행이라는 사유에 응축되어 있다고 보고, 후자의 이행의 의미를 밝히기 위해 전자의 이행의 의미를 검토할 것을 제안한다. 동물에서 인간으로의 이행에 대한 니체의 사유의 궤적을 따라간 결과, 우리는 니체가 여타의 동물과 다른 인간의 특징을 가치판단을 통한 윤리적 삶의 영위 여부에서(『차라투스트라』), 더 나아가 인간 존재를 동물적 존재와 다르게 예측가능하며 일관되고 책임 있는 자로 만들어줄 수 있는, 보다 근본적인, 의지의 기억과 약속의 능력에서 찾고 있음(『도덕의 계보』)을 발견한다. 니체는 동물에서 인간으로의 이행, 즉 인간화가 공동체 안에서, 공동체의 규범에 의한 교육과 훈련에 의해, 자연의 부정을 강요당하면서 일어난다고 보았다. 그 결과 인간은 우선 자연을 부정하는 금욕주의자가 되고 공동체의 규범에 순응하는 무리동물이 된다. 인간의 정신은 가장 먼저 낙타의 형태로 나타나는 것이다. 이로부터 우리는 인간의 위버멘쉬로의 이행이 자연과의 화해 및 윤리적 개인주의에 대한 요구를 표현한다고 주장한다.
