In this paper, I want deal with foundations of Ernst Bloch’hope. First, Bloch's theory of God is based on Jewish-Messiahism and he views the Bible as subversive resistance and insurrection. Bloch composes Christian theory as an agent of subversion and resistance. Second, eschatology; Bloch digs possibilities and future-open hope through Aristotle's philosophy of material. Third, the kingdom of God; Bloch hopes the kingdom of God without God; specifically Marxist utopia. As for the limitations of Bloch's hope horizon, he set ‘starvation’ as basic human desire and he had no specific methodology to reach not to the annihilation but to the homeland of oneness in his infinite dialectical argument. In addition, it shows the limitations that even after the completion of everything, still problem remains. It is that in the complete world, 'hoping human' cannot exist any longer.

본 논문에서는 에른스트 블로흐 희망사상의 세 가지의 중요한 사상적 토대를 다루고자 한다. 더불어 블로흐의 희망이 가지는 한계 또한 함께 살피려 한다. 첫째는 유대-메사아주의 전복적 해석이다. 선신과 악신의 투쟁으로 세계와 역사를 설명하는 방식에서 변증법적 미래희망의식을 길어내고 있다. 둘째는 아리스토텔레스의 좌파전통인 질료중심철학에서 가능성, 즉 아직-아닌-존재의 존재론을 가져온다. 셋째는 막연한 희망이 아닌 구체적인 유토피아적 형식으로 마르크스주의에서 길어낸다. 블로흐는 마지막 종국이 완성 혹은 절멸에 이르기까지 변증법적 지속을 언급하고 있는데, 절멸에 이르지 않은 방법을 구체적으로 제시하지 못하고 있다. 그럼에도 희망의 담론은 현실적 결과물만으로 평가하여 현실 너머 저편의 문제로 치부할 수 없다. 미래를 향한 열린 개방성은 지속적인 변화를 이루어 왔다. 희망은 어둠의 현실에 저항하는 살아있는 동력이기 때문이다.
