The military is pursuing innovation in the rapidly changing battlefield environment. With the advent of the era of the fourth industrial revolution, including artificial intelligence, drones, robots, big data and networks, huge waves of change are calling for a change in the military, including a reduction in the size of troops due to a decrease in the population, a reduction in the length of military service, and an increase in public demand. Under these circumstances, the threat of a nuclear- and missile-armed North Korea is growing further, and the numerical inferiority is widening due to a reduction in the size of the troops. Under these circumstances, the military is pursuing various efforts and innovations to transform itself from manpower-centered to high-tech intelligence, and one of them is the Warrior Platform project, a high-tech systemization of combatants. The Army's practical efforts in promoting the Warrior Platform are manifested as a number of efforts along with its strong policy will. However, in the process of pushing ahead with the project, various restrictions are also being raised at the same time. In order to overcome the limitations of the Warrior Platform project and to carry out the project systematically, the reestablishment of the role of future infantry, the reset of project promotion goals, the comprehensive review of acquisition methods, the priority of acquisition, the resolution of the problem of military support, and the search for the second and third stages of implementation should be carried out. Since the launch of the Warrior Platform in 2017, the first phase of the project has been under way as of 2020, and the second and third stages of the project are being sought after 2023. Under the rapidly changing future battlefield environment, the Warrior Platform project, which evaluates combatants as strategic assets and improves their capabilities, should be pursued urgently and continuously. The Warrior Platform project will be a touchstone for future infantry development.

군이 급변하는 전장변화 환경속에서 변화를 추구하고 있다. 인공지능(AI), 드론, 로봇, 빅데이터, 네트워크 등 거대한 4차 산업혁명시대의 도래와 함께 인구의 감소로 인한 병력규 모 축소, 병 복무기간 단축, 국민의 요구 증대 등 거대한 변화 물결들이 군의 변화를 요구 하고 있다. 이러한 상황에서 핵과 미사일로 무장한 북한의 위협은 더욱 증대되고, 병력규모 감축으로 인해 숫적 열세는 그 격차가 더욱 커지고 있다. 이러한 상황에서 군은 인력 중심에서 기동화를 넘어 첨단지능형으로 변모하기 위해 다양 한 노력과 혁신을 추구하고 있으며, 그 중의 하나가 전투원의 첨단 시스템화인 ‘워리어플랫 폼(Warrior Flartform)’사업이다. 워리어플랫폼 추진에 대한 육군의 실질적인 노력은 강한 정책의지와 함께 여러 가지 노력으로 나타나고 있다. 그러나 사업을 추진하는 과정에서 여 러 가지 제한사항도 동시에 제기되고 있다. 워리어플랫폼 사업의 제한사항을 극복하고, 사업 이 체계적으로 수행되기 위해서는 미래 보병의 역할 재정립, 사업추진 목표의 재설정, 획득 방법의 종합적 검토, 획득 우선순위 설정, 군수지원 문제 해소, 2, 3단계 추진방안 모색 등 이 추진되어야 한다. 워리어플랫폼은 2017년 시작한 이후 2020년 현재 1단계 사업이 추진중에 있으며, 2023년 이후 추진하게 될 2, 3단계 추진방안을 모색 중에 있다. 급변하는 미래 전장환경하에서 전투원을 전략 자산으로 평가하고 그 역량을 개선하는 워 리어플랫폼 사업은 시급히 그리고 지속적으로 추구해야 한다. 워리어플랫폼 사업은 미래 보 병 발전의 시금석이 될 것이다.
