Due to the rise of China and the relative stagnation of the United States, the competition for supremacy between the United States and China is being fierce. From ideology, political system, economic trade, to the military sector, it is omnidirectional, and the conclusion will be unknown. In this, Korea's security is greatly affected. Various factors are shaping South Korea's security, such as the North Korean nuclear and THAAD deployments, and controversy over US defense forces in Korea. In this situation, it is important to maintain friendly relations with the existing ally, the United States. However, the anti-China route will also jeopardize our security. Not only do we have to resolve the North Korean nuclear issue smoothly, but we are also tasked with converting the security structure of the Korean Peninsula, which is still under the armistice agreement system, into a peace agreement system to transform the state of security into a safe and peaceful system. In order to do that, we need to exercise our wisdom to avoid being a victim of the US-China supremacy competition.

중국의 부상과 미국의 상대적 정체로 미·중 패권 경쟁이 치열하게 전개되고 있다. 이데올 로기, 정치제도, 경제 무역, 군사 영역에 이르기까지 전방위적이며, 그 결론이 어떻게 날지 알 수 없는 상황이라 할 것이다. 그 속에서 한국의 안보는 매우 지대한 영향을 받고 있다. 북핵과 사드 배치, 주한미군 방 위비 논란 등 우리 한국의 안보를 흔드는 요인이 한두 가지가 아니다. 이런 상황에서 우리 는 기존 우방인 미국과의 우호적인 관계 유지도 물론 중요하지만 반(反)중국 노선 역시 우 리의 안보를 매우 위태롭게 할 것이다. 우리는 북핵 문제를 원만히 해결해야 하는 것 뿐 만 아니라, 여전히 정전 협정 체제로 있는 한반도 안보 구조를 평화 협정 체제로 전환해서 국 가 안보 상태를 안전하고 평화로운 체제로 전환해야 할 임무를 띠고 있다. 그러기 위해서는 우리는 지혜를 발휘하여 지금 전개되는 미중 패권 경쟁의 희생물이 되는 우를 절대로 피해가야 한다고 본다.
