This paper focuses on identifying imperialism from political, economic and cultural perspectives. And it also discusses the penetration of industrial revolution as well as imperialism, the division of colonies between imperialist countries and the war of colonial occupation, and the exploitation of and non-peaceful approach to colonial states. Since the Industrial Revolution, Western imperialist powers have engaged in predatory trade with numerous colonial states in the Americas, Africa and Asia. They have committed harsh acts such as coercion, oppression, exploitation and looting of the governed. This led to material difficulties, and mental and physical suffering in the dismal state of governance. Of course, there were differences in the degree of harsh behavior, but they had to suffer unhappiness that was difficult to avoid. However, as Marx-Lenin argued, the last stage of capitalism was imperialism, socialism was not brought in due to the destruction of imperialism, and rather communist socialism had come to an end. Moreover, the theory of inviolability that imperialist war breaks out due to capitalist development has also lost its momentum. After that, the tendency to view neoliberalism following the dependency theory as a product of imperialism has since been wrong. It concerns about network and cultural imperialism in the era of the fourth industrial revolution are only premature. In the pluralistic high-tech industrial society, private companies and multinational corporations pursue economic benefits through various forms of penetration. However, imperialist sovereignty invasion and colonialism will not recur. This is because it will never repeat the bad precedent left by imperialism.

본 논문은 정치적, 경제적, 문화적 관점의 제국주의를 파악하고, 산업혁명과 제국주의의 침투, 제국주 의 국가 간 식민지 분할과 식민지 쟁탈 전쟁, 그리고 식민국가에 대한 착취와 비평화적 접근에 대해 논하 고 있다. 산업혁명 후 서구 제국주의 열강들은 아메리카, 아프리카, 아시아의 수많은 식민국가들을 대상으로 약 탈무역을 했으며, 피지배민에 대한 강압, 탄압, 착취, 약탈 등 가혹 행위를 일삼았다. 이로 인해 피지배민들 은 암울한 피지배 상태에서 물질적 어려움과 정신적․육체적 고통을 겪었다. 물론 가혹 행위의 정도 차이는 있었지만 피해가기 어려운 불행을 겪을 수밖에 없었다. 그러나 맑스-레닌의 주장대로 자본주의의 최후단계가 제국주의이며, 제국주의 멸망에 따른 사회주의 가 도래되지 않았으며, 오히려 공산사회주의가 최후를 맞이하였다. 그리고 자본주의 발달로 제국주의 전 쟁이 일어난다는 전쟁불가피론도 동력을 잃었다. 그 뒤 종속이론에 이어 신자유주의를 제국주의의 산물로 보는 경향은 잘못되었으며, 4차 산업혁명 시대 네트워크 제국주의와 문화 제국주의에 대한 우려는 시기상 조의 기우에 불과하다. 다원주의적 첨단산업사회에서 다양한 형태의 침투를 통해 민간기업과 다국적기업 이 경제적 이익을 추구해 가지만 제국주의적 주권 침탈과 식민지주의는 재발되지 않을 것이다. 이는 결코 제국주의가 남긴 나쁜 선례를 되풀이 하지 않으려 하기 때문이다.
