Purpose: This study investigates human rights due diligence (HRDD) in the global supply chain management (SCM) under the concept of business and human rights (BHR), responsible business conduct (‘RBC’), and human rights management (HRM), in both a global and a domestic context, which have the de facto same meaning even though they use different terminology. Research design, data, methodology: This paper ⅰ) examines the main content of and major issues with HRDD in the global SCM of a) relevant international instruments, including OECD’s various due diligence guidances, and b) domestic instruments such as ｢Human Rights Management Guidelines and Checklist｣ and ｢Human Rights Management Manual for Public Organizations｣ published by the National Human Rights Commission of Korea (NHRC) and ｢Human Rights Management Standard Guidelines｣ published by the Ministry of Justice of Korea. Results: The result suggests that Korean companies adopt the scope and content of HRDD in the global SCM taking into account widely-recognized international standards and instruments such as those of the UN, OECD and ILO as well as those of the NHRC and the Ministry of Justice of Korea. Conclusions: This paper shows that HRDD can play the most important role to achieve and implement BHR, RBC, HRM in the global SCM. Therefore, Korean companies have to take into account the content and level of international and domestic standards and instruments regarding HRDD and its implementation.

최근 국제적으로 기업책임경영, 기업인권, 인권경영이라는 다른 명칭을 사용하지만 그 개념은 사실상 동일한 글로벌 공급망 관리에서의 실사의무에 대한 논의가 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 인권실사와 관련된 OECD 가이드라인 NCP 이의제기사건 사례연구, SCM 인권실사와 관련된 OECD의 각종 실사 지침들과 국가인권위원회의 『인권경영 가이드라인 및 체크리스트』 및 『공공기관 인권경영 매뉴얼』과 법무부의 『인권경영 표준지침』 등의 문서 등 을 비교·분석하여 우리 기업들이 글로벌 SCM에서의 인권실사를 준비하고 이행하는데 참고할 수 있도록 실사의 절차, 범위 및 내용, 그리고 최근 해외의 인권실사 관련 입법과 관련하여 소개하고 시사점을 도출하여 제시하고 있다.
