The purpose of this thesis is to study how to apply ‘awareness’, a main therapeutic factor, to Christian counseling. There are precedent researches that Gestalt therapy is closely related to religions, and Gestalt psychology can also affect the recovery of healthy church communities. In response, the researcher assumed that Gestalt's concept of 'awareness' could be applied to Christian counseling. To this end, the researcher assumed that, first of all, the possibility of applying Gestalt therapy to Christian counseling has something in common with perspective on human beings. In other words, the two approaches considered humans to be organic, growing, and responsible. If there is a difference between the two approaches, Gestalt therapy is a phenomenological approach based on subjective experiences, and, on the other hand, Christian counseling emphasizes 'Means of grace' and 'the enlightened by the Holy Spirit' through the methodology of awareness. In the main subject, it was compared and analyzed by two approaches for the function of 'awareness', the area of 'awareness', the method of 'awareness', the obstructions of 'awareness', and the therapeutic effect of 'awareness'. In Gestalt therapy, it mentions introjection, projection, fusion, reversal, and self-consciousness, but in Christian counseling, it includes Satan, Spirit of Falsehood, and level of faith in addition to these factors. Gestalt therapy in therapeutic effects emphasizes the recovery of physical, psychological, and relational areas but not spiritual one. However, the researcher suggested the related area and its methodology as considering it is expandable to spiritual area that is important in Christian counseling. In conclusion, the researcher thought that the ‘awareness’ factor in Gestalt therapy is applicable in Christian counseling, and, with this as a momentum, it is expected to lead more active research on the integration of Gestalt therapy and Christian counseling.

본 논문의 목적은 게슈탈트치료의 핵심 치료요인인 ‘알아차림’을 기독교상담에 어떻게 적용할 것인가에 대해 연구하는 것이다. 게슈탈트치료와 종교 간에 밀접한 연관성이 있으며, 게슈탈트 심리학이 건강한 교회공동체 회복에도 영향을 끼칠 수 있다는 선행연구도 있다. 이에 연구자는 게슈탈트의 ‘알아차림’ 의 개념을 기독교상담에 적용할 수 있을 것이라고 가정했다. 연구자는 본 연구에서 먼저 게슈탈트치료를 기독교상담에 적용할 수 있는 가능성을 인간관에 대한 공통점에 있다고 보았다. 즉, 게슈탈트치료나 기독교상담 모두 인간을 유기체적 존재, 성장하는 존재, 책임적인 존재로 본다는 점이다. 이 두 가지 접근의 차이점은 게슈탈트치료가 주관적인 체험을 근거로 하는 현상학적 접근이라면, 기독교상담에서는 알아차림의 방법론으로 ‘은혜의 방편’과 ‘성령의 깨닫게 하심’을 강조한다. 본론에서는 ‘알아차림’의 기능과, 알아차림의 영역, 알아차림의 방법, 알아차림의 방해요인, 알아차림의 치료적 효과 등에 대해서 두 가지 접근을 비교 분석했다. 게슈탈트치료에서는 알아차림의 방해요인을 내사, 투사, 융합, 반전, 자의식 등을 언급하는데, 기독교상담에서는 이러한 요인 외에도 사탄, 거짓의 영, 믿음의 수준 등을 포함한다. 치료적 효과에서 게슈탈트치료는 신체적, 심리적, 관계적 영역의 회복을 강조하지만, 영적인 영역을 강조하지는 않는다. 그러나, 연구자는 게슈탈트치료를 영적 영역까지 확장이 가능하다고 보고 관련 영역과 그 방법론을 제시했다. 결론적으로 연구자는 게슈탈트치료의 ‘알아차림’ 요인을 기독교상담에서도 적용할 수 있다고 보았으며, 이를 계기로 게슈탈트치료와 기독교상담의 통합에 관한 연구가 더욱 활발히 이루어지기를 기대한다.
