This study focused on the experience and memory of Bae Byung-ki, then the national shooting team coach, to figure out the reasons for winning the most medals in the history of shooting in the 1986 Seoul Asian Games and the first medal in the 1988 Seoul Olympics. First was the introduction the systemized training. Second was the introduction of the latest firing equipment. Third was the introduction of new training programs such as overseas field training and four major special training exercises. Fourth is the introduction of ‘GUNSMITH' for total management. Fifth was participation in establishing the theoretical framework of shooting with the publication of the 'Shooting Gun Book series’. Based on all of these, Bae’s experience and memory can serve as a historical medium and evidence to understand Korea’s rise to world-class level in the history of shooting.

본 연구는 한국 사격의 역사에서 1986년 서울아시안게임 때 아시안게임 참가 사 상 최다메달 획득과 1988년 서울올림픽 때 올림픽 참가 사격종목 첫 메달획득의 이 유를 당시 사격국가대표 감독이었던 배병기의 경험과 기억을 중심으로 살펴본 결과 배병기를 통해 다음과 같은 변화가 있었다는 점을 확인할 수 있었다. 첫째, 훈련시스 템의 체계화를 도입하였다. 둘째, 최신 사격 장비를 도입하였다. 셋째, 해외 전지훈련, 4대 특수훈련 등 새로운 훈련을 도입하였다. 넷째, 총기관리를 위해 ‘건스미스 (GUNSMITH)’를 도입하였다. 다섯째, ‘사격총서’ 발간으로 사격의 이론적 틀 정립에 참여하였다. 이를 통해 배병기의 경험과 기억은 한국 사격의 역사에서 세계적 수준으 로 도약하는 순간을 이해하는 매개체이자 증인으로서 의의가 있다.
