This study set out to examine the expressive technique of 飜案(reversal of judgment) in Gaewoncheonboyeongsasi, a serial poem of Lee Gyu-bo(1168∼1241) and its connections to "新意(new meanings)." In his serial poem of 43 pieces, Lee expresses his thoughts about history desperately in two 飜案(reversal of judgment) techniques, supposition and cross-question. He used the cross-question technique to make it clear that the fate of Tang declined because of Emperor Xuanzong that failed to recruit talents and mange the government administration instead of a single person called Yang Guifei. He used the supposition technique to examine articles about Emperor Xuanzong once again and show how sorry he was about the fall of Tang due to certain historical events. Using these techniques, Lee would sometimes offer new evaluations of the articles and present different opinions from others. Lee wrote historical poems through the 飜案(reversal of judgment) techniques, reflecting his intention to read the fundamental aspects of history in an objective and composed viewpoint rather than by involving his emotions in history. His new viewpoints and discussions about history grant legitimacy to the significance of "新意(new meanings)" to criticize his poems in Bohanjip. In addition, "新意(new meanings)" regarded as the essence of Lee's Chinese poetry were not just his imitation of the meanings used by previous literary figures in their poems in the process of "Yongsa," which was confirmed by the flow of historical poems after Gaewoncheonboyeongsasi and Mandang.

본고는 이규보의 連作詠史詩인 『開元天寶詠史詩』에서 보이는 飜案의 표현기 법을 통하여 ‘新意’와의 연관성을 확인하고자 하였다. 이규보는 43수의 연작 영사시 에서 假定과 反問이라는 飜案의 技法을 통하여 역사에 대한 자신의 생각을 절실하 게 표출하고 있다. 그가 반문의 기법을 사용한 의도는, 당나라의 국운이 기울어진 것은 양귀비 한 사람 때문이 아니라 인재 등용과 국정 운영에 실패한 현종에게 있 다는 점을 명확히 하는 데 있었다. 또한 假定의 技法을 사용한 의도는 당 현종의 기사를 다시 한번 살펴보고, 결국에는 당 왕조가 기울어지는 역사적 사건이 일어나 지 않았을 것이라는 안타까움을 드러내는 데 있었다. 이러한 기법을 통한 기사에 대한 평가는 때로는 새롭고 남다른 견해를 드러내기도 한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이규보가 번안의 기법을 통하여 詠史를 했다는 것은, 감정이 개입된 상태에서 역 사를 바라보는 것이 아니라 객관적이고 냉정한 시선으로 근원적인 측면을 읽어내고자 하는 인식이 반영되었다고 할 수 있다. 이러한 역사에 대한 새로운 시선과 의 론의 표출은 『보한집』에서 그의 시를 비평하는 ‘新意’라는 의미에 정당성을 부여하 는 것이다. 아울러 이규보 한시의 精髓로 인식하고 있는 ‘新意’는 ‘用事’를 하는 데 있어서 이전 문인들이 시에서 사용한 의미를 그대로 답습하는 것이 아님을 『개원천 보영사시』와 만당 이후 역사를 번안하는 영사시의 흐름을 통하여 확인할 수 있었다. 이를 통하여 ‘新意’라고 하는 것이 어떠한 측면으로 바라봐야 할 것인지에 대하여 재론의 여지가 있다고 본다. 이에 관해서는 후일의 과제로 미룬다.
