The “writing a plan for solving community problems” learning task was assigned to writing class to experience self-directed learning through the formation of thinking through experience rather than simple knowledge or concept acquisition. In case of the plan, it is a practical style of writing that students can use frequently after entering the workplace. Particularly, in case of engineering students, it is more likely to prove useful. In particular, the plan is a document suitable for cultivating problem solving ability or convergence thinking ability because it can utilize both creative thinking and critical thinking. In particular, locally-based subjects and learning tasks play an important role in helping college students realize that they are members of the community, through learning, providing opportunities to contribute to society through education and research results, and forming a social self as a member of the community. Through this learning experience, students recognize their role and responsibility as members of the social community and contribute to their knowledge as a pre-social person. In other words, it provides a new opportunity to understand oneself in the community in the relationship with society.

‘지역사회 문제 해결을 위한 기획서 쓰기’ 학습과제는 단순한 지식이나 개념의 획득보다는 실습을 통해 자기주도적 학습을 경험할 수 있도록 하 기 위해 <글쓰기> 수업시간에 적용하였다. 기획서의 경우 학생들이 사회 진출 이후 빈번하게 활용할 수 있는 실용적인 글쓰기이다. 뿐만 아니라 기획서는 창의적 사고와 비판적 사고를 모두 활용할 수 있다는 점에서 문 제해결능력이나 융합사고력을 배양하는 데 적합한 문서이다. 지역에 기반한 교과목이나 학습과제는 대학생들에게 학습을 통해 자신 이 지역사회의 일원임을 깨닫게 하고, 교육과 연구 결과를 사회에 공헌할 수 있는 기회를 제공하며, 공동체 구성원으로서의 사회적 자아를 형성하는 데 중요한 역할을 한다. 따라서 이러한 학습 경험은 학생들이 사회공동체 구성원으로서의 역할과 책임감을 인식, 예비사회인으로서 소양을 갖추는데 기여한다. 즉 사회와의 관계 또는 공동체 속에서 학생들로 하여금 자신의 정체성을 이해하고 확립할 수 있는 새로운 기회를 제공해 준다.
