Most textbooks concerning logic or critical thinking teach that an argument of which the premise and the conclusion are the same in contents a type of logic known as the ‘fallacy of repetition’. But on the other hand, those arguments are classified into a deductively valid inferences too. In this paper, I will search for an educationally proper answer to this apparent conflict. For this purpose, first I will analyse the logical construction of the arguments that we casually call “fallacies of repetition”, and then I will show that the arguments which fall into that category can in fact be read in several different ways. From this, I will draw out the reason why a fallacy of repetition arises, or doesn’t arise, in each case. Also, I will cite a few philosophical insights in order to justify some assumptions that are applied for my consideration. Finally I will propose the most proper model of answer in three steps for the students questioning the problem this paper discusses.

많은 논리학 또는 비판적 사고 교과서에서 전제와 결론이 동일한 명제로 이루어진 논증은 동어반복의 오류로 분류된다. 그러나 전제와 결론이 동일한 논증은 또한 연역적으로 타당한 논증으로도 분류된다. 본 논문의 목적은 교육 현장에서 이러한 두 가르침 사이에 나타나는 액면상의 충돌로 혼란을 느끼는 학생들에게 제공할 가장 바람직한 답변의 모델을 모색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 필자는 우리가 “동어반복 의 오류”라고 칭하는 논증의 논리적 구조를 분석하고, 그것이 실제로는 몇 가지 서로 다른 방식으로 읽힐 수 있음을 보일 것이다. 그리고 각각의 경우에서 동어반복의 오류가 발생하는 혹은 발생하지 않는 이유를 서술할 것이다. 그리고 그와 관련된 중간 주장들을 뒷받침하기 위해 관련된 철학적 논의들을 이에 적용할 것이다. 그리고 학생들에게 제공할 가장 적절한 답변의 모델을 세 단계로 나누어 정리할 것이다.
