Sports activities not only satisfy human physiological, psychological and social needs and values, but also have a close relationship to the quality of life by serving as a means of providing enjoyment and happy life opportunities in everyday life. Therefore, in this study, sports activities were analyzed by analyzing how sports participation activities of police officers, who need to pay more attention to stress relief and health and fitness management, are related to interpersonal competency, self-acceptance, and empathy ability. This is to enhance the positive effect through and to emphasize the importance of improving conditions and participation in sports for police officers to perform their jobs better. As a result of the analysis of the research, it was found that the participation of police officers in sports activities had a significant positive effect on interpersonal competence, self-acceptance, and empathy ability. It can be seen that this has a great influence on the ability of interpersonal relations, self-acceptance and empathy ability when conducting various civil affairs and individual duties of police officers currently participating in sports activities. Therefore, it is considered that an institutional mechanism to organize and activate sports clubs within the police as well as to encourage participation in individual sports should be prepared.

스포츠 활동은 인간의 생리적ㆍ심리적ㆍ사회적 요구와 가치를 충족시킬 뿐 아니라 일상 속에서 즐거움과 행복한 삶의 기회를 제공해 주는 역할을 함으로써 삶의 질에 밀 접한 관계를 지니게 되었다. 이에 본 연구에서는 각종 스트레스 해소와 건강 및 체력관 리에 더욱 더 신경을 써야하는 일선 경찰공무원들의 스포츠참여 활동이 대인관계 유능 성, 자기수용, 공감능력 요인과 어떠한 관계가 있는지에 대해 분석하여 스포츠 활동을 통한 긍정적인 효과를 증진시키고 경찰공무원의 더 나은 업무수행을 위한 여건개선 및 스포츠 참여의 중요성을 부각시키는데 그 의미룰 두고 있다. 분석결과 경찰공무원의 스포츠 활동 참가는 대인관계 유능성, 자기수용, 공감능력에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 조사되었다. 이는 현재 스포츠 활동에 참여하고 있는 경찰공무원 개인별 대민업무 및 각종 업무 수행시 대인관계 유능성과 자기수용, 공감능력에 많은 영향을 미치고 있음을 알 수 있다. 따라서 개인적인 스포츠 참여 독려 뿐만 아니라 경찰내부에서도 스포츠 동호회를 조직하여 활성화 할 수 있는 제도적 장 치가 마련되어야 할 것으로 여겨진다.
