Seokjeon Bakhanyoung(1870-1948) is a reformer in modern time's Korean Buddhism. Seokjeon showed interest in the irrational practice of Buddhist thought, faith and ritual. Seokjeon regarded the root cause as corruption within Buddhism itself. It was no exception to errors in the form of faith and ideological understanding as well as denominations. This study examined the misunderstanding of Zen Buddhism concept based on Seokjeon's ideological background. The reform were shown as the development of the right recognition of the establishment of the independent Buddhist denomination and the educational method for the edification of the times. In particular, the right understanding of zen thoughts awards and the act of correcting the harm to zen thoughts awards were outstanding. First of all, the zen Thoughts basic position was the correct understanding of the concept of the Patriarch zen and the Tathagata zen based on the survey line idea. This is well represented in the Seokrimsuphil. It was also to eliminate misunderstandings about the concept of have everything[皆具] and realize everything[皆證]. Furthermore, through Seonhakyoryung, the right understanding of The four kinds of outlook expounded[四料揀] and the check of the performance process of Jugongbusipmoon[做工夫十門] and Chamseonsammoon[參禪三要] were the subjects. Through this, Seokjeon emphasized the necessity of having the right eye for the concept of the Theorys of zen and the terms of zen.

석전 박한영(1870∼1948)은 최근세의 한국불교사에서 개혁가이다. 석전은 불교의 개혁운동의 측면에서는 사상과 신앙과 의례 등에 대하여 기존의 불교에 나타난 불합리한 인습의 척결에 관심을 보였다. 석전은 불교의 이러한 양상의 근본적인 원인으로는 불교 자체 내의 부패로 간주하였다. 이러한 입장에서 교단뿐만 아니라 신앙의 형태와 사상적인 이해에 대한 오류도 예외는 아니었다. 본고는 석전의 사상적인 배경을 중심으로 선종 개념의 오해에 대하여 고찰하였다. 석전의 개혁은 암울했던 시대에 주체적인 불교 교단의 확립에 대한 올바른 인식과 시대적인 교화를 위한 교육방식의 전개로 나타났다. 특히 선사상에 대한 올바른 이해와 당시의 선사상에 대한 폐해를 바로잡으려는 왕시선(枉矢禪)의 행동이 돋보인다. 우선 선사상의 기본적인 입각점은 조사선 사상을 바탕으로 하여 조사선과 여래선의 개념에 대한 올바른 이해였는데 󰡔石林隨筆󰡕에 잘 드러나 있다. 또한 皆具와 皆證의 개념에 대한 오해를 불식시키려는 것이었다. 나아가서 [禪學要領]을 통해서 四料揀에 대한 올바른 이해 및 做工夫十門과 參禪三要에 대한 수행과정의 점검이 그 대상이었다. 이를 통해서 석전은 선법의 개념에 대한 올바른 안목을 구비해야 할 필요성을 강조하였다.
