The purpose of this study is to identify research areas and details of art therapy conducted in Canada through co-word analysis. The included literature were 195 papers published between 1985 and 2019 in the Canadian Art Therapy Association Journal from the Canadian Art Therapy Association (CATA/ACAT). The collected papers were analyzed with SEMI, COOC, WNET, and NodeXL programs. Co-word analysis was used to compute similarity values between words based on individual and simultaneous appearance frequencies of 117 words that appeared at least twice in titles of the literature. Co-word analysis visualizes networks of connection patterns between words. As a result, the knowledge structure of Canadian art therapy was classified into “child art therapy,” “adolescent art therapy,” “adult art therapy,” “elderly art therapy,” “art therapy theory,” “expressive arts therapy,” “projective drawing test,” “image and interpretation,” and “professionalism of art therapists.” The results show that the knowledge accumulated regarding art therapy in Canada consists of four factors (client, creative process, artwork, and therapist) and their effects. The significance of this research is that it established an academic structure of art therapy through informetrics. The knowledge structure of art therapy accumulated in Korea, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, and Canada was compared and the implications for domestic research were discussed.

본 연구는 동시출현단어 분석을 통하여 캐나다에서 축적된 미술치료학 연구의 주요 연구 영역과 세부내용을 식별하는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 연구의 대상은 캐나다 미술치료학회 (CATA/ACAT)에서 출판하는「Canadian Art Therapy Association Journal」에 게재된 195편(1985-2019)의 논문이다. 수집된 문헌은 SEMI, COOC, WNET, NodeXL 프로그램을 사용하여 분석되었다. 동시출현단어 분석은 전체 문헌의 제목에서 2회 이상 출현한 단어 117개의 개별출현빈도와 동시출현빈도를 바탕으로 단어 간 유사도 값을 산출하고, 단어 간 연결패턴을 시각화하는 절차로 진행되었다. 그 결과, 캐나다 미술치료학의 지식구조는 ‘아동 미술치료’, ‘청소년 미술치료’, ‘성인 미술치료’, ‘노인 미술치료’ ‘미술치료 이론’, ‘표현예술치 료’, ‘투사적 그림 검사’, ‘이미지와 해석’, ‘미술치료사의 전문성’의 9가지 연구영역으로 구분 되었다. 이러한 결과는 캐나다에서 축적된 미술치료학 분야의 지식이 미술치료를 구성하는 내담자, 창조적 과정, 작품, 치료자의 네 가지 요소와 미술치료의 효과에 대한 내용으로 구 성되어 있음을 보여주었다. 본 연구는 계량정보학적인 방법을 통하여 미술치료학이 갖는 학 문 체계를 규명하였다는 데에 의의가 있다. 끝으로 한국, 미국, 영국, 캐나다에서 축적된 미 술치료학의 지식구조를 비교하고, 국내 연구를 위한 시사점을 논의하였다.
