The purpose of this study was to examine the objective types and characteristics of criminals with problem drinking through judgments of all criminals with unclear motives. The subject and method of the study were to objectively analyze through criminal judgments to compensate for limitations such as literature review and lack of case counts in previous studies. To conduct this study, data from the first instance judgments of courts of all levels of 16 years from February 19, 2003 to July 18, 2018 were analyzed. In order to examine the relationship between problem drinking criminals and crime characteristics, the criminals were classified by clustering related characteristics using cluster analysis. The types of problem drinking criminals were categorized as “impulsive criminals” and “planned criminals” Accordingly, the results of the analysis of personal, social, and criminal behavior characteristics of problem drinking criminals were aggregated.

이 연구는 동기가 불분명한 전체 범죄자의 판결문을 통해 문제음주를 지닌 범죄자의 객관 적인 유형 제시 및 특성을 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구의 대상 및 방법은 선행연구에서 나타난 문헌적 고찰, 사례수의 부족 등 한계점을 보완하고자 범죄자의 판결문을 통해 객관적으로 분 석을 진행하고자 하였다. 이 연구를 수행하기 위해서 2003년 2월 19일부터 2018년 7월 18일까지 총 16년간의 각급 법원의 1심 판결문 자료를 사용하여 분석하였다. 문제음주 범죄자와 범행 특성간의 관계를 살펴보기 위해 군집분석(Cluster Analysis)을 사용하여 관련 특성들을 군집화하여 범죄자를 유형화 하였다. 문제음주 범죄자의 유형은 “충동적인 범죄자”, “계획적인 범죄자”로 유형화 되었다. 이에 따라 문제음주 범죄자 유형에 따라 개인적·사회적·범죄행동 특성을 분석하여 결과를 종합 하였다.
