This study aims to present baseline data needed to continuously administer oral health education to promote oral health in growing adolescents after oral health education in a group of middle school students in Busan Metropolitan city. Their changes in tooth brushing behavior and oral health knowledge were examined. Prior to tooth brushing training, a teeth disclosing solution was applied to the dentition to visualize the level of dental plaque when tooth brushing. Students’ school year and sex distribution as well as changes in tooth brushing behavior and oral health knowledge after oral health education were analyzed with frequency analysis and percentage, and changes in the plaque index after oral health education according to tooth brushing behavior were analyzed using paired sample t-test. The results confirmed that tooth brushing behavior, correct oral health knowledge rate, and Quigley-Hein Index were altered positively after the oral health education.

본 연구는 부산광역시의 일부 중학생을 대상으로 구강보건교육 전과 후에 다른 구강 건강 행위, 구강 건 강 지식의 차이를 파악하여 성장기 청소년의 구강 건강증진을 위한 구강보건교육이 지속해서 이루어지기 위한 기 초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 연구대상은 B시 D구에 소재하는 6개 중학교 전체를 대상으로 중학생의 칫솔질 행동과 구강보건지식도 변화를 조사하였다. 연구방법으로 교육활동 시간은 총 45분으로 교육 후 직접 칫솔질 교습을 진행 하였다. 칫솔질 교습전 치아 전반 착색제를 도포하여 치면 세균막 부착 정도를 확인하게 하고 칫솔질을 시행하도 록 하였다. 중학생의 학년 및 성별분포, 구강보건교육 전과 후의 칫솔질 행동 및 구강 보건 지식은 빈도분석과 백 분율을 산출하였으며, 칫솔질 행동에 따른 구강보건교육 전ㆍ후 치면세균막 지수 변화를 파악하고자 대응표본 t-test를 시행하였다. 연구결과 구강보건교육 전과 후 칫솔질의 행동 변화, 구강 보건 지식 정답률, 치면세균막 지 수가 긍정적으로 변화하였음을 확인하였다.
