The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of mother’s job stress and the difficulty in emotional regulation on mother’s response to children’s negative emotion expression and to find out whether the difficulty in emotional regulation play a role as a mediator between job stress and mother’s response to children’s negative emotion expression. Participants were 179 mothers between the age of 21 to 49 whose children, three to seven years old and completed the questionnaire which were Korean Occupational Stress Scale(KOSS), Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale(K- DERS), Coping with Children's Negative Emotions Scale(CCNES). Correlation analysis were conducted using SPSS 25.0 program and Process Macro(Model 4) were performed to verify the mediating effect. The main results of this study were summarized as follows: Mother’s job stress was positively correlated with the difficulty in emotional regulation and negatively correlated with mother’s supportive response to children’s negative emotion expression. And the difficulty in emotional regulation was negatively correlated with mother’s non-supportive response to children’s negative emotion expression. Second, there were significant completely mediated effects of the difficulty in emotional regulation the relationships between mothers’ job stress and mother’s unsupportive response to children’s negative emotion expression. This study helped to provide a better understanding of the influence process of mothers’ job stress and the difficulty in emotional regulation and mother’s response to children’s negative emotion expression by the mediated effects of the difficulty in emotional regulation. Other related implications of these findings and suggestions for future research are also discussed.

본 연구는 취업모의 직무스트레스와 자녀의 부정정서표현에 대한 반응의 관계에서 모의 정서조절곤란의 매개효과를 확인하는 데 목표가 있다. 이를 위해 3~7세(만2~6세) 자녀를 둔 20~40대 취업모 총179명을 대상으로 직무스트레스 척도, 자녀의 부정적 정서 표현에 대한 부모의 반응유형 척도, 정서조절곤란 척도를 사용하여 설문조사를 실시하 였다. SPSS 25.0을 사용하여 상관분석을 실시하였고, 매개효과를 살펴보기 위해 Process Macro(model 4)를 사용하여 분석하였으며, 부트스트래핑(Bootstrapping)을 통해 매개효 과의 유의성을 검증하였다. 분석 결과, 직무스트레스는 정서조절곤란과는 유의한 정적 상관을, 자녀의 부정 정서 표현에 대한 지지적 반응과는 유의한 부적 상관을 보였으나, 비지지적 반응과의 상관은 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 정서조절곤란은 자녀 의 부정정서 표현에 대한 비지지적 반응과는 유의한 정적 상관을 보인 반면, 지지적 반응 과는 상관이 유의하지 않았다. 직무스트레스와 자녀의 부정정서 표현에 대한 반응의 관 계에서 정서조절곤란의 매개효과를 확인한 결과, 직무스트레스와 자녀의 부정정서 표 현에 대한 반응 중 비지지적 반응의 관계에서 정서조절곤란의 완전매개효과가 유의하게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 취업모의 직무스트레스가 클수록 정서조절이 어렵기 때문에 자녀의 부정정서 표현에 대해 비지지적 반응을 보이게 됨을 시사한다. 이러한 결과의 함 의, 연구의 한계점 및 후속 연구에 대한 제언을 논의하였다.
