The purpose of this study was to identify the mediating effects of depression and self-compassion on the relationships between perfectionism and academic procrastination of children. For achieving this purpose, questionnaires were distributed to 594 4th, 5th and 6th grade students in Gyeongsangnam-do. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0. Then, the goodness-of-fit of the set structural model was verified, and influences of individual variables were identified. This analysis results were as follows. First, perfectionism showed a significant correlation with depression, self-compassion, and academic procrastination, but the relationship with the subfactors of perfectionism is slightly different. Perfectionism had a negative correlation with self-compassion, and a positive correlation with depression and academic procrastination. Need for admiration had a positive correlation with self-compassion, academic procrastination and had a negative correlation with depression. Compulsiveness did not show any significant correlation with depression, self-compassion, academic procrastination. Second, depression had a positive correlation with academic procrastination, whereas self-compassion had a negative correlation with academic procrastination. Third, according to Structural Equation Modeling, they were found to be appropriate for the measurement model and there was a generally significant mediation effect of depression and self-compassion on the relationship between perfectionism and academic procrastination of children. That is to say, it was found that perfectionism had direct effect on academic procrastination and at the same time, there was an mediation effect of depression and self-compassion on it. Also, each subfactor of perfectionism affects academic procrastination in different ways. The overall mediation effects and dual mediation effects were found to be significant, but the mediation effects of depression between compulsiveness and academic procrastination was not significant. This means that a significant mediation effect of depression and self-compassion on the relationship between perfectionism and academic procrastination of children, but the mediation effects of depression and self-compassion may be different according to sub-factors of perfectionism. Finally, this study discusses the limitation and direction of future research.

이 연구는 아동의 완벽주의와 학업지연의 관계에서 우울과 자기자비가 매개하는지를 알아보는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 경상남도 소재 초등학교 4-6학년 594명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하여 각 변인 간의 상관을 알아보고 구조모형을 설정하여 적합도를 검증하고 개별변수의 영향력을 알아보았다. 수집한 자료는 SPSS 20.0과 AMOS 20.0을 사용하여 분석하였고, 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 완벽주의는 자기자비와 부적 상관, 우울, 학 업지연과 정적 상관이 있었는데, 완벽주의를 구성하는 하위요인들과의 상관은 다소 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났 다. 즉 완벽주의의 부적응적 하위요인인 실수민감성은 우울, 학업지연과 정적 상관, 자기자비와는 부적 상관을 나타냈다. 적응적 하위요인 중 하나인 인정욕구는 자기자비, 학업지연과 정적 상관, 우울과는 부적 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 강박은 자기자비, 우울, 학업지연과는 유의한 상관이 나타나지 않았다. 둘째, 우울은 학업지 연과 정적 상관, 자기자비는 학업지연과 부적 상관이 있었고, 우울과 자기자비 간에는 부적 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 구조방정식 모형을 통한 자료 분석 결과 측정모형이 적합하고, 완벽주의와 학업지연의 관계에서 우울과 자기자비의 매개효과는 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 즉 완벽주의가 학업지연에 직접적으로 영향을 주는 동 시에 우울과 자기자비를 매개로 학업지연에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 완벽주의의 하위요인들은 각 각 학업지연에 대해 다른 방식으로 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 전체 매개효과, 이중매개효과는 대체로 유의한 것으로 나타났으나, 강박과 학업지연을 우울이 매개하는 경우 유의미하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 이는 완벽주의 와 학업지연의 관계에서 우울과 자기자비가 매개하지만, 완벽주의의 하위요인에 따라 우울과 자기자비의 매개효 과가 다를 수 있음을 의미한다. 마지막으로 이 연구의 의의와 제한점을 논의하였다.
