The purpose of this study is to examine the empathetic factors of improvisation dance performances as a performing art from the standpoint of the audience who watched improvisation dance. In order to achieve this goal, six research participants were selected, by purposive sampling method, from the audiences watched the small theater improvisation dance performance [SPACE 'Cafe'] for 60 minutes. The materials for research were collected by in-depth face-to-face interviews, e-mails, and telephone interviews. Datas were analyzed by the inductive method of qualitative research presented by Miles & Huberman. As a result, the sympathetic factors of the audience who saw the improvisation dance performance were derived into 5 areas and 7 sub factors: first, system: new ways, blurry boundaries; second, emotion: interesting atmosphere, continuous tension; third, reaction: response to stimulus; fourth, performer: dancer's capability; fifth, spectrum: an extension of the spectrum.

본 연구의 목적은 즉흥무용 공연을 관람한 관객의 입장에서 바라본 공연예술로서의 즉흥무용 공연의 공감 요 인을 고찰하는 것이다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 소극장 즉흥무용 공연 [SPACE ‘Cafe’]를 60분 동안 관람 한 관객 중 목적표집방법(purposive sampling method)으로 6명을 연구참여자로 선정하였다. 자료수집은 이들 과의 면대면 심층 면담, 이메일, 전화면담을 이용하였다. 자료 분석은 마일스와 후버만(Miles & Huberman)이 제시한 질적 연구의 귀납적 방법으로 분석하였다. 이를 통해 즉흥무용 공연을 본 관객의 공감 요인은 5개의 영 역과 7개의 하위요인으로 도출되었다. 첫째, 시스템(system): 새로운 방식, 모호한 경계, 둘째, 감정(emotion): 흥미로운 분위기, 지속적인 긴장감, 셋째, 리액션(reaction): 자극에 대한 반응, 넷째, 퍼포머(performer): 무용수 의 역량, 다섯째, 스펙트럼(spectrum): 스펙트럼의 확장이다.
