The world population is aging. As people tend to live longer, the chance of getting a chronic disease such as heart attack and stroke increases. Currently, medical tests do not reflect the elderly true conditions. As we begin to enter the 4th industrial revolution, the constant monitoring of real-time bio-signals will play a significant role in elderly healthcare monitoring. In this paper, we discuss what are some common biosignals for real-time monitoring, how wearable sensors help in its uptake and applications in the healthcare services. We also present our framework for stoke detection and health monitoring for the elderly. The proposed system generates an alarm or a warning message if any abnormalities found in real-time physiological data. The use of real-time bio-signals is expected to contribute significantly to the elderly population health care and medical cost and the development of personalized medical care.
