Purpose : This study aims to examine the major amendments of Incoterms 2020 rule and to identify its characteristics and the implications of its practical application. Research design, data, methodology : There are composed of five chapters based on literature studies. Chapter Ⅰ deals with the introduction of this paper and Chapter Ⅱ explains the key amendments of Incoterms 2020 rules. Chapter Ⅲ deals with differences between Incoterms 2010 and 2020. Chapter Ⅳ suggests precautions for practical application of Incoterms 2020. Chapter V concludes this paper. Results : Major amendments to Incoterms 2020 included changes such as 1) B/L with an on-board notation and the FCA Incoterms rule, 2) Cost rule, 3) Different levels of Insurance cover in CIF and CIP, 4) Arranging for carriage with seller's or buyer's own means of transport in FCA, DAP, DPU, DDP, 5) Change in the three-letter initials for DAT to DPU, 6) Inclusion of security-related requirements within carriage obligations and costs, and 7) Explanatory Notes for Users. Conclusions : This paper would like to look at the points that should be taken into account when using them in practice and help to understand the revised rules both academically and practically.

본 연구의 목적은 개정된 Incoterms(정형무역거래조건의 해석에 관한 국제규칙) 2020 규칙의 주요 개정내용을 살펴보고 그 특징과 실무상 적용의 유의점을 파악하고자 하였다. Incoterms는 10년 주기로 개정되어오고 있으며, 최근 2020년 1월 1일부터 시행되었다. Incoterms 2020의 주 요 개정으로는 1)본선적재 선하증권과 Incoterms FCA규칙, 2) 비용 규정 3) CIF와 CIP 간 부보 수준의 차별화 4) FCA, DAP, DPU, DDP에서 자신의 운송수단에 의한 운송 허용 5) DAT에서 DPU로의 명칭변경 6) 운송의무와 비용조항에 보안관련 요건 삽입, 7) 사용자를 위한 설명문 등이 변경이 이루어졌다. Incoterms 2020의 실무적용상 유의사항으로 FCA규칙에서 본선적재 선하증권 활용 시 유의점, 보험 부보의 변화로 유의점, 매도인·매수인 자신의 운송수단 사용 허용, Incoterms규칙의 자체적인 수정을 지양 등의 실무적으로 사용할 때 유의할 사항을 살펴 보고 학문적, 실무적으로 개정된 규칙에 대한 이해에 도움을 주고자 한다.
