Volunteer exchange at the private level is one of the best ways for neighboring countries to pursue peace and co-prosperity and to achieve true global cooperation. Korea, China and Japan, which represent Northeast Asia, sometimes compete for national interests, but are still closely related in terms of historical, cultural and geopolitical aspects. As can be seen from disasters such as the Taean Oil Spill, the Sichuan Wonchuan Earthquake, and the Fukushima nuclear accident, natural disasters are not limited to one country, but all human beings must cooperate with each other to overcome them. This study analyzed the current status of volunteer activities in the three countries of Korea, China and Japan through theoretical considerations, and conducted an empirical analysis of the effects of volunteer activities on peace and prosperity in Northeast Asia. As a result, the expected effect of volunteer activities on peace and prosperity in Northeast Asia was very high, followed by private volunteers, corporate social contribution, and youth volunteers. 민간 차원에서 활발한 자원 봉사 교류는 이웃 국가들이 공동 번영을 추구하고 진정한 글로벌 협력을 실현하는 가장 좋은 방법 중에 하나이다. 동북아시아를 대표하는 한국, 중국, 일본은 때때 로 국가의 이익을 위해 경쟁하고 있지만, 여전히 역사적, 문화적, 지정학적 측면에서 밀접한 관계 를 가지고 있다. 태안기름유출사고, 쓰촨성(四川省) 원촨(汶川) 대지진, 후쿠시마 원전사고 등과 같 은 재난에서 알 수 있듯이 자연 재해는 한 국가에만 국한되지 않으며, 이를 극복하기 위해서는 이웃 국가뿐 아니라 모든 인류가 서로 협력하여야 한다. 본 연구에서는 2005년부터 개최해온 동아시아시민사회‧자원봉사국제포럼을 중심으로 한‧중‧일 3국의 자원봉사활동의 현황을 분석하고, 자원봉사활동이 동북아시아의 평화와 번영에 미치는 영 향에 대한 실증분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 자원봉사활동의 동북아의 평화와 번영에 대한 기대 효과는 매우 높은 것으로 조사되었으며, 민간자원봉사, 기업의 사회공헌, 청소년자원봉사 순으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 조사되었다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 한‧중‧일 자원봉사교류방안을 제안 하였다.
