This study examined the mediating effects of depression and marital relationship among self-forgiveness, other-forgiveness and ego-integrity of elderly. A total of 235 elderly participated in a survey. Multiple regression models and Sobel test were performed to verify the significance of the mediating effects. The results are as follow: First, self-forgiveness, other-forgiveness and marital relationship showed positive correlation with sub-factors of self-integrity and depression showed negative correlation with sub-factors of self-integrity. Second, depression, self-forgiveness and marital relationship in order were significant factors influencing in the sub-factor of ego-integrity(acceptance of past life and present life) and self-forgiveness, other-forgiveness and marital relationship in order were significant factors influencing in the sub-factor of ego-integrity(life attitude). Third, there was a partial mediating effect between self-forgiveness and ego-integrity(acceptance of past life and present life). Forth, there was a partial mediating effect between other-forgiveness and sub-factors of ego-integrity. The results of this study are expected to provide useful data for the elderly to acquire ego-integrity and to help establish intervention directions for improving the quality of life in old age.

본 연구는 노인의 자기용서, 타인용서 및 자아통합감과의 관계에서 우울과 부부관계의 매개효과를 검증하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 60대 이상 노인 235명으로, 분석은 Baron‧Kenny(1986)의 인과적 단계접근법을 적용 한 중다회귀분석과 매개효과 검증을 위한 Sobel test를 시행하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 자아통합감의 하위요인들은 자기용서, 타인용서 및 부부관계와 정적상관, 우울과는 부적상관을 보였다. 둘째, 노인의 자아통합감 하위요인 중 과거와 현재에 대한 수용에 영향을 주는 변인은 우울, 자기용서, 부부관계의 순으로 나타났고, 자아통합감 중 삶의 태도에 영향을 주는 변인은 자기용서, 타인용서, 부부관계 순으로 나타났다. 셋째, 노인의 자기용서와 자아 통합감 중 과거와 현재에 대한 수용과의 관계에서 우울의 부분매개효과가 나타났다. 넷째, 노인의 타인용서와 자아통합감 중 과거와 현재에 대한 수용, 삶의 태도 모두에서 부부관계의 부분 매개효과가 나타났다. 본 연구결 과는 노인의 자아통합감 획득에 필요한 유용한 자료를 제공하고 노년기 삶의 질 향상을 위한 개입 방향을 설정 하는데 도움이 될 것이라 기대한다.
