The purpose of this study is to investigate the moderating effect of social service use between depression and life satisfaction of the elderly. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, 4,620 elderly people were selected as the study subjects using raw materials from the 13th year of the 2018 Korea Welfare Panel Study(KOWEPS). Descriptive statistical analysis, correlation analysis, hierarchical regression analysis were used. The analysis results are as follows. First, depression of the elderly was verified as a factor that decreases life satisfaction. Second, the moderating effect of social service use was verified between depression and life satisfaction of the elderly. The interaction terms between depression and social service use were significant, and the slope of the moderating effect showed that the group with high social service use had a greater effect on depression and life satisfaction than the group with low social service use. Third, although the moderating effect of the interaction term was not verified among the sub-factors of social service use, the direct effects of income security service, health security service and social participation service were significant. Based on the results of this study, the importance of social service provision and practice plans to reduce the level of depression of the elderly were suggested.

본 연구는 노인의 우울과 삶의 만족도 사이에서 사회서비스 이용의 조절효과를 밝히는데 목적을 두고 있다. 이러한 연구 목적을 달성하기 위하여 2018년 한국복지패널(KOWEPS) 13차년도의 원자료를 사용하여 노인 4,620 명을 연구대상으로 선정하였다. 분석방법으로 기술통계분석, 상관관계분석, 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 노인의 우울은 삶의 만족도를 감소시키는 요인으로 검증되었다. 둘째, 노인의 우울과 삶의 만족도 사이에서 사회서비스 이용의 조절효과가 검증되었다. 우울과 사회서비스 이용의 상호작용항이 유 의미하게 나타났으며, 조절효과의 기울기에서 사회서비스 이용 수준이 높은 집단이 낮은 집단 보다 우울과 삶의 만족도의 영향력에 차이가 큰 것으로 확인하였다. 셋째, 사회서비스 이용 하위 요인들 중에서 상호작용항의 조 절효과는 검증되지 않았으나, 조절변수인 소득보장 서비스, 건강보장 서비스, 사회참여 서비스의 직접효과가 유 의미하게 나타났다. 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 노인의 우울 수준을 감소시키기 위한 사회서비스 제공의 중요성과 실천 방안을 제안하였다.
