The research purpose is to find the impact of the investment to foreign workers on the quality level of the services by foreign workers and on business performance. The research is as follows: first, examine how much the hotels on Jeju Island invest to employing foreign workers and maintaining their employment. Second, examine what impacts the investment to foreign workers has on the quality level of the services by them. Lastly, examine what effects the quality level of the services by foreign workers has on the hotel business performance. This research targets 49 three-star or higher hotels in Jeju, and the 35 collected questionnaires were used for the final analysis. The results of the hypothesis test are as follows. First, Hypothesis 1 was rejected as the investment to foreign workers in the hospitality industry in Jeju was found not to have positive impacts on the hotel business performance. Second, Hypothesis 2 was adopted as the investment to foreignworkers in the hospitality industry in Jeju was found to have positive effects on the quality level of the services by them. Third, Hypothesis 3was adopted as the quality level of the services by the foreignworkers was found to have positive impacts on the business performance. This research has limitations in that the research sample is the three-star or higher hotels on Jeju Island, and the perceived values of the workers were the standard for measuring the service quality level. But the research has implications in that this is the first research targeting foreignworkers in the hospitality industry.

본 연구의 목적은 도내 3성급 이상 호텔의 외국인 근로자에 대한 투자가 외국인의 서비스품질 수준과 경영성과에 미치는 영향을 밝히는 데 있 다. 구체적으로 도 내 호텔들이 외국인 근로자를 채용하여 고용을 유지하는데 얼마나 많은 투자를 하고 있는지를 살펴본 후, 외국인 근로자에 대 한 투자가 외국인 근로자의 서비스품질수준에 미치는 영향과 외국인 근로자의 서비스품질수준이 호텔 경영성과에 미치는 영향을 살펴본다. 본 연구의 대상은 제주도내 3성급이상 호텔 49개이며, 회수된 35부의 설문지가 최종 분석에 사용되었다. 가설검증 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 제주지역 호텔서비스업에 종사하고 있는 외국인 근로자에 대한 투자는 호텔의 경영성과에 긍정적인 영 향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 제주지역 호텔서비스업의 외국인 근로자에 대한 투자는 외국인 근로자의 서비스품질수준에 긍정적 인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 제주지역 호텔서비스업에 종사하는 외국인 근로자의 서비스품질수준은 경영성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 제주도내 3성급이상의 호텔을 연구표본으로 하고 있다는 한계점과 서비스품질을 직원들의 인지 값으로 측정하였다는 한계점을 가 지고 있지만, 호텔업에 종사하는 외국인 근로자를 대상으로 하는 첫 연구라는 점에서 시사점이 있다.
