This study is not an exaggeration to say that performing arts are becoming more and more popular and performance enthusiasts’ evaluation of works is determining the success or failure of the performance. In order to increase the audience of Korean dance performances these days, I am trying to find out what kind of group the performance enthusiasts are and how they perceive dance performances. As a result, the performance enthusiasts have different characteristics. In particular, they can make wrong choices when they view video materials or get information from the Internet. So they get the prior information of the performance or visit in person to get related information. In addition, the performance enthusiasts are very sensitive to the new form and the contents of the performance. In particular, they preferred works that are familiar to the public rather than serious works of art, and are looking for pleasure in more speedy performances than boring performances. Based on these results, this study is about the popularization of dance performance and a deep understanding of what type of performance the general audience wants and what interests them in accepting Korean dance performance. The implications are large.

본 연구는 공연예술이 점점 대중화 되어 공연 마니아들이 생겨나고 작품을 평가하게 되면서 그 공연의 성패를 결정짓고 있다고 해도 과언이 아닌 요즈음 한국무용공연의 관람률을 높이기 위해 공연 마니아들은 어떤 특성의 집단이며, 공연예술 및 무용공연을 어떻게 인식하고 있는지를 규명하고자 하였다. 연구결과, 공연 마니아들은 각 기 다른 특성을 가지고 있었으며, 특히 이들은 인터넷을 통해 동영상 자료나 공연 관람평을 보고 작품을 선택하 면 자칫 그릇된 선택을 할 수 있으므로 관심 있는 공연작품은 사전정보를 얻어 공연장을 찾거나 직접 방문하여 관련정보를 얻고 있었다. 또한 공연 마니아들은 새로운 형식이나 작품내용에도 매우 민감한 반응을 보였다. 특 히, 심각하고 진지한 예술성 짙은 작품보다는 대중에게 친숙한 작품들을 선호하고 있었으며, 지루한 공연보다는 보다 속도감 있는 공연에서 즐거움을 찾으려 하고 있었다. 이러한 결과로 미루어보아 본 연구는 공연 마니아들 의 견해를 통해 일반 관객들이 한국무용공연을 수용하는데 있어 어떤 공연형식을 원하고, 어떤 작품에 관심이 있는지에 대해 깊은 이해와 무용공연의 대중화 작업의 일환으로 시사 하는바가 크다고 할 수 있다.
