This study looked at the creative background of dance plays, a representative material that could help the research, development and succession of Dun Huang Dance, and looked at the characteristics through the composition of the works, dance elements and music. First, the story of the work consisted of 12 stories with a single large flow of Buddhist thought along 12 membranes. Second, the dance elements of the work can change the stage in a variety of ways by converging Shenyun(身韻), Dunhuang dance, ballet, catch and hand dance, and check out the large changes and various dance moves. Third, background music utilized the sounds of nature, streams, birds, wind, etc. and expressed monotone and harmony of the harmony between the monotone and the harmony of the harmonic sounds. Fourth, the characteristics of the work suggest that it conveys the Buddhist characteristics and the love and mercy for the Mesozoic.

본 연구는 돈황 무용의 연구, 발전과 계승에 도움이 될 만한 대표적인 자료인 무용극 <천수관음(千手觀音)>의 창작배경을 고찰하고 작품의 구성, 춤 요소, 음악을 통해 특성을 살펴보았다. 무용극 <천수관음>은 첫째, 12개 의 막에 불교 설화를 각색하여 불교사상을 전파하도록 구성되었다. 둘째, 무용극의 춤 요소는 고전무용 신운, 돈황 무용, 발레, 잡기와 손춤을 융합하여 무대를 구성하여 대형 변화 및 다양한 춤사위를 확인해볼 수 있다. 셋째, 배경음악은 자연의 소리, 즉 냇물, 새, 바람 등 자연에서 얻을 수 있는 소리를 활용하였고, 단음과 화성음 을 조화롭게 표현하였다. 넷째, 작품의 특성은 불교적 특색과 중생에 대한 사랑과 자비를 무용을 통해 전달하 고 있다.
