The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of depression between neglect of parents and delinquency experience of multicultural adolescents. A cross-sectional data from the study of Multicultural Adolescents, which is conducted by National Youth Policy Institute in 2015, were used. The study examined a nationally representative sample of 1,348 multicultural adolescents including middle school students(2 grade). The results showed that parents neglect affects both depression and delinquency of multicultural adolescents, and the higher the depression of multicultural adolescents, the higher the probability of delinquency. Furthermore, depression mediated the parents neglect and delinquency among multicultural adolescents. This study suggests that it is necessary to pay attention to depression as well as parents neglect in the approach necessary to reduce delinquency of multicultural adolescents.

본 연구는 부모의 방임과 다문화청소년의 비행경험의 관계에서 우울의 매개효 과를 검증하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 2015년도에 실시된 다문화청소년 종단 조사를 통해 수집된 중학교 2학년 1,348명의 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과 부모 방임이 다문화청소년의 우울과 비행 모두 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 다문 화청소년의 우울이 높을수록 비행 확률을 높이는 것으로 나타났다. 부모의 방임 이 다문화청소년의 비행에 미치는 영향에 있어서 우울은 매개역할을 하였다. 본 연구 결과는 다문화청소년의 비행을 낮추기 위해 필요한 접근방법에서 부모의 방임 뿐만 아니라 우울에 대한 관심을 가지는 것이 필요함을 시사한다.
