"Der Ursprung des Kunstwerkes"(1936/60, UK) is a work that integrates Heidegger's thoughts about art. Interestingly, Heidegger, citing Hegel's so-called thesis on the past-character of art, says that the decision on the thesis has not yet been made. This article starts with this diagnosis. The paper attempts to show that Heidegger's philosophical reflection on art has a critical and productive dialogue with Hegel's philosophy of art. The first part of this article reconstructs how Hegel disputes common sense notions about art. Then it discusses how this argument is related to the critical reflections on art in the UK. Next, I will consider how Hegel discusses three fundamental facts about the existence of a work of art, and how he dialectically criticizes and integrates contemporary art theories. I will then analyze how Heidegger tries to overcome Hegel’s theoretic reflections based on his thinking of existence and the concept of truth. Heidegger's answer to Hegel's thesis seems obvious. Though not a truth that implies cultural-moral totality of life, art(works) can be philosophically justified and must be seriously guarded as the "unique and original source" of truth-event.

『예술작품의 근원(Der Ursprung des Kunstwerkes)』(1936/60, 이하 『근원』)은 예술에 대한 하이데거의 사유를 집약하고 있는 저작이다. 그런데 『근원』의 후기에서 하이데거는 헤겔의 이른바 과거성 테제를 인용하면서, 이 테제에 대한 결정이 아직도 내려지지 않았다고 말한다. 본고는 이 진단에서 출발하여 『근원』을 하이데거의 예술철학적 성찰이 헤겔의 예술철학과 비판적이며 생산적인 대화를 나누고 있음을 보여주고자 한다. 본고는 헤겔이 상식적 통념들을 논박한 후, 예술작품의 존재에 관한 세 가지 사실들과 – 인위적 제작, 감각적 요소, 예술의 목적 – 당대 예술이론들을 어떻게 변증법적으로 비판하고 통합시키는가를 분석한다. 그리고 하이데거가 자신의 존재 사유와 진리 개념을 바탕으로 이러한 헤겔의 논의를 어떻게 넘어서려 하는가를 논의할 것이다. 헤겔의 과거성 테제에 대한 하이데거의 답변은 분명하다. 문화적-인륜적 삶의 총체성을 의미하는 진리는 아니지만, 예술(작품)은 진리-사건이 일어나는 ‘고유하고 엄정한 근원’으로서 철학적으로 정당화될 수 있으며, 또 반드시 진지하게 지켜져야 한다.
