The purpose of this study is to analyze the environmental characteristics of life and the Career-Construction Experience through the career history of 386 generation working men.For this purpose, seven men from the 386th generation were studied. The results of the study are as follows. First, The university has become the basis for a strong sense of solidarity and the basis for an internalized sense of community in the experience of the Gwangju Democratic Uprising, which was delivered from seniors of the “million school students”Second, there was a lot of jobs at the time of entering the labor market, and there was a sense of pride that the first generation of IT contributed to the computerization of Korean society and global expansion. Third, Participants of this study tried their best to reach a compromise between the demands of their own self and others by actively pioneering their lives, starting from their own self. These findings could serve as a clue to understanding the external context of the career process and psychological factors of 386 generation working men.

본 연구의 목적은 신중년 직장남성을 세대적 관점에서 중년 남성의 삶과 사회적 변화가 어떻게 이들의 진로구성에 영향을 미쳤는지, 또 이들이 진로구성과정에서 어떻게 경험하였 는지를 사회적 맥락에서 살펴보고자 한다. 이러한 목적을 위해 신중년 직장 남성 7명을 대 상으로 생애사 연구를 하였다. 연구 결과는 첫째, ‘백만학도’로 연구 결과는 첫째,‘백만학도’로 이어지는 연대의식 의 기반인 정체성은 이들의 진로구성에 직간접적인 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 연구 참여자들이 노동시장에 진입한 시기에는 ‘골라 갈 수 있는’ 있을 만큼 일자리가 풍부했으며, IT 1세 대로 한국사회의 전산화와 글로벌 진출에 기여했다는 자부심 있었다. 셋째, 지금까지 가족 과 조직의 요구에 부합하기 위해 억눌려있던 자신만의 진로정체성을 찾으려고 노력하고 있었다. 이러한 연구의 결과가 현재 한국사회에서 386세대이며 신중년을 위한 일자리 정책 의 기초자료로 활용되기를 기대한다.
