The purpose of this study was to review the concept of electronic portfolios, positive effects of e-portfolios and relevant theories in order to conceptualize its definition and suggest teaching-learning strategies in tertiary educational institutes. For this, definitions, purposes, different types of e-portfolios and relevant theories were reviewed based on the literature. Next, a design process of e-portfolios and various software programs for developing e-portfolios were introduced. Finally, an undergraduate course that integrated e-portfolios as a teaching-learning strategy was presented as an implementing example. In conclusion, electronic portfolios have been widely used in the United States and the United Kingdom as a boost of university-community engagement and students’academic learning, career preparation and personal growth. Faculty in higher education can utilize the results of this study as a basis for developing curriculum materials and designing programs for students’ community engagement and experiential learning.

본 연구의 목적은 e-포트폴리오의 개념, 긍정적 효과, 관련 이론을 검토하여 e-포트 폴리오를 정의하고 고등교육기관에서 e-포트폴리오를 적용할 수 있는 실천방안을 제시 하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 e-포트폴리오의 정의, 목적, 유형 및 관련 이론을 문헌에 근거하여 검토하였다. 다음으로 e-포트폴리오의 디자인 과정과 e-포트폴리오 제작을 위 한 다양한 플랫폼을 살펴보았다. 마지막으로 학부과정의 실제 수업에서 e-포트폴리오를 활용하고 있는 수업의 사례를 살펴보았다. 결론적으로 e-포트폴리오는 미국 및 영국과 같은 선진국에서 대학-지역사회 간의 연계와 협력의 한 방안으로서 널리 활용되고 있으 며, 대학생의 학습 관리, 진로 준비 및 개인적 성장의 수단으로 대학 수업에서 도입되어 사용되고 있었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 대학-지역사회 연대, 취업준비 교육 및 훈련을 위 한 교육과정 개발과 프로그램을 설계하는 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
