This study aimed to identify the nature of knowledge and explore the useful knowledge in vocational education. Since vocational education places emphasis on the present, relative, short-term and practical knowledge unlike general education which emphasizes more on the historical, unchangeable, long-term and theoretical knowledge, knowledge in vocational education is therefore understood as present, practical and technological knowledge. This study suggests proxiological knowledge. The simple principle of proxiological knowledge is learning by doing with thinking, and it emphasizes individuals’ active action, as well as their flexibility in acquiring knowledge and skills.

본 연구는 직업 교육에서의 지식의 본질을 규명하고 의미있는 지식을 찾는 것이 목적이 다. 직업교육에서 현재, 관계, 단기 그리고 실천적 지식이 강조되고 있다. 이는 일반교육학 에서 강조되고 있는 역사적이며 변화하지 않고 장기적이며 이론적인 지식과는 다른 면이 크다. 이러한 차원에서 본 연구는 일터현장에서 행동과 성찰을 강조하는 지식이라는 의미 로 proxiological knowledge를 제시했다. proxiological knowledge의 기본 원리는 학습은 행동 을 통해서 발생하며, 이러한 행동은 성찰이 기반되어야 한다. 또한 proxiological knowledge 는 개인의 행위 뿐만 아니라 지식과 스킬의 습득 과정에서 유연함을 지녀야 한다.
