In this article analyzed the BUFS(Busan University of Foreign Studies)’s writing education as an alternative writing education in the crisis of writing education. BUFS’s attempt was to introduce WTL(Writing to learn) in the previous school year. WTL uses writing as a teaching tool. With the WTL, learners can understand and have an active learning attitude. For professors, writing is a method of teaching. And there is no pressure to feed back. In particular, BUFS recognizes the WTL as an innovative teaching method. It is also reflected in education-related evaluations. The WTL is a methodology that can be an appropriate alternative at the crisis of writing education And BUFS attempted to run a writing center as a more professional institution. In particular, BUFS wanted to secure the independence and identity of the writing tutors. BUFS ran a writing tutor training process in order to steadily secure a professional workforce that can make writing additions. This is because it is possible to have independent writing center when there are enough staff for writing center tutors. The WTL and the writing tutor courses of the writing center as an innovative teaching method implemented by universities are an alternative model of university writing education.

본고에서는 대학의 위기, 글쓰기의 위기 앞에서 부산외국어대학교가 시행하고 있는 글쓰기 교육 시도를 대안적인 글쓰기 교육 모델로 분석하고자 했다. 부산외국어대학교는 학습연계글쓰기(Writing to Learn)를 전 학년에 도입했다. 보통 대학에서 ‘쓰기’는 ‘글쓰기’ 교과목이 도달해야 할 최종 목표로 이해되었다. 반면 학습연계글쓰기는 ‘쓰기’를 교수법으로 활용한다. 학습연계글쓰기는 전공, 교양에 상관없이 모두 교과목에서 학습 목표를 달성하기 위해 활용하는 교육 도구로 ‘쓰기’를 차용하는 것이다. 교과목에서 글쓰기를학습 도구로 활용하면 학습자들이 해당 교과 내용을 잘 이해할 수 있으며 또한 학습자 스스로 능동적인 학습 태도를 지닐 수 있다. 글쓰기가 교수법이 되면 교수자 입장에서는 첨삭의 부담이 있다고 생각할 수 있는데 학습연계글쓰기는 본격적인 글쓰기가 아니라 학습을 도와주기 위한 간단한 쓰기이므로 글쓰기 첨삭에 대한 부담감을 느끼지 않아도 된다. 특히 부산외국어대학교에서는 이 학습연계글쓰기를 PBL, 플립러닝 등과 함께 혁신적인 교수법으로 인정하고 있다. 학습연계글쓰기가 교원업적 평가에 반영되어 학습연계글쓰기를 교과에 접목할 수 있는 환경을 조성해 놓은 상황이다. 학습연계글쓰기는 1학년에 국한된 글쓰기 교육을 2~4학년까지 전체 확대했다는 점에서 의미가 있다. 아울러 부산외국어대학교에는 글쓰기센터를 더욱더 전문적인 기관으로독립, 운영하기 위한 방안으로 전문 글쓰기 튜터제를 도입했다. 우리나라 대학에서 글쓰기센터는 대학 글쓰기교육을 위한 부속기관처럼 여겨질 정도로그 역할이 수동적이며 소극적인 경우가 많다. 부산외국어대학교에서는 이를 전문 글쓰기 튜터제로 극복하고자 했다. 글쓰기센터에서 글쓰기 튜터 양성과정을 기획하고 이를 운영했다. 글쓰기 튜터 양성과정은 글쓰기센터에필요한 글쓰기 튜터 인력을 원활하게 수급할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 글쓰기센터 자체의 독립적인 프로그램으로 운영할 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 이처럼부산외국어대학교가 시행하고 있는 혁신적인 교수법으로서의 WTL과 글쓰기센터의 글쓰기 튜터 양성과정은 대학 글쓰기 교육의 대안적인 한 모델이라고 할 수 있다.
