It was relevantly recent since career education has become emphasized and systemized in Korean schools. As the trend for focusing studies on college entrance admissions continued for a long time, the importance of career education was not given attention. However, the importance of career education has been emphasized continuously through various methods. In particular, with the announcement of the 2015 revised education course, the character pursued by career education and educational goals per grade were set in detail, and with the level of achievements becoming more elaborate, a clear standard for evaluating the level of educating career education was set. Accordingly, it appears that the actual foundation for career education was completed through school education. In fact, the phenomenon of emphasizing career education at schools is a global trend. With the fourth industrial revolution, and the accelerated migration and movement of the global population, it has become more likely for a person to become a foreigner, and this is inevitably accompanied by various changes in the vocational world as well. This paper aims at reevaluating the need and importance of career education by reviewing various influences in which the contents and changes of the fourth industrial revolution affect career education. Furthermore, this study aims at understanding the relationships of career and NCS that appear as national response strategies to changes in the times, understanding on presenting directions and support systems for national career education that appear in career education act, and lastly, the impact of contents, direction, systems, etc. of career education that appeared through the multiple revisions of educational courses on existing career education, and to view it from a new perspective to promote understanding on the importance and need for career education.

우리나라의 학교에 진로교육이 강조되고 체계화된 것은 비교적 최근의 일이다. 입시경쟁에 의한 학업중시 풍조가 오랫동안 계속되면서 진로교육의 중요성이 부각되지 못하였다. 그러나 다양한 방법으로 진로교육의 중요성이 계속해서 강조되었다. 특히, 2015 개정 교육과정이 발 표되면서 진로교육에서 추구하는 인간상과 학교급별 교육목표가 구체적으로 설정되고 성취 기준이 정교화되면서 진로교육의 수행 정도를 평가할 수 있는 분명한 기준이 설정되었다. 이 에 따라 학교교육을 통한 진로교육의 실질적인 기초가 완성되었다고 보여진다. 실제로 학교 장면에서 진로교육이 강조되는 현상은 세계적인 추세다. 제4차 산업혁명과 전세계 인구의 이 주와 이동이 가속화되면서 누구나 외국인이 될 가능성이 높아지고, 이에 따라 직업세계 또한 다양한 변화를 동반할 수 밖에 없었다. 본고에서는 무엇보다 제4차 산업혁명의 내용과 변화 가 진로교육에 미치는 다양한 영향력의 검토를 통해서 진로교육의 필요성과 중요성을 재고 찰해 보기로 하였다. 아울러 시대의 변화에 따른 국가적 차원의 대응전략으로 나타난 NCS와 진로와의 관계성에 대한 이해, 진로교육법에 나타난 국가 차원의 진로교육에 대한 방향 제시 와 지원 체계에 대한 이해, 마지막으로 여러 번에 걸친 교육과정의 개정을 통해서 나타난 진 로교육의 내용, 방향, 체계 등이 기존의 진로교육에 미친 영향력을 분석하고 새로운 시각에 서 조망해 봄으로써 진로교육의 필요성과 중요성에 대한 이해를 촉진하고자 하였다.
