The Song of “Yu Gawn-sun Yeolsaga”, an independence activist is a pansori composed by a renowned singer, Park Dong-sil (1897~1968) during the Post-Liberation Period. The pansori was handed down to his student, Jang Woljungseon (1925~1998). A study of this research aims at the 11th song, ‘Butdeulrieo ganeunguna’ of its 19 songs. The narrative describes Yu being captivated by Japanese military police. With gyemyeonjo and jungmori jangdan, the song opens with the same melody as the beginning section of Park’s “Simcheongga”, ‘Seonindureul ttaraganda’ and displays the similarity in the flow of narrative by paragraph. When referring to Park’s composition, therefore, it has been consistently considered his “Simcheongga” as the source. However, he not only imitated “Simcheongga”, but also maximized the sorrow and resolution of “Yu Gwan-sun Yeolsaga” with the musical expressions that were behind the narrative. The analysis of each paragraph by classifying the melodies into five styles - basic, additional, extended, variable, and complex - reveals that the more various melodic styles appeared in the latter part of the song. This is different from his "Following the Forefathers," which only includes the basic, additional, and variable styles. This aspect ascertains his musical enhancements while his “Simcheongga” played a role as the foundation. In addition, by using the basic form of ujo freely, he progressed them through modulation and variable vocals actively. This illustrated the conflicting emotions between the military police and her compatriots behind the scenes, and confirmed Park’s capability of composition by this competence.

<유관순 열사가>는 명창 박동실(1897~1968)이 해방공간에 만든 창작판소리로, 그의 제자 장월중선(1925~1998)에게 전해진 소리이다. 본고의 연구 대상곡 “붙들리어 가는구나”는 전체 19곡 중 11번째 곡으로, 유관순이 일본 헌병들에게 붙잡혀 가는 대목이다. 계면조 중심의 중모리 장단으로, 박동실의 <심청가> “선인들을 따라간다”와 시작 선율이 같고, 사설의 흐름이 단락별로 유사하다. 그래서 박동실의 작창을 언급할 때, 그의 <심청가>를 모체로 한 것으로 일괄한다. 그러나 박동실은 <심청가>의 모방에 그치지 않고, 사설의 이면에 맞는 음악적 표출로 <유관순 열사가>의 비애와 비장을 극대화하였다. 선율을 5가지(기본형, 추가형, 확장형, 변화형, 복합형)로 분류하여 각 단락을 분석한 결과, 후반으로 갈수록 다양한 선율형이 나타났다. 이는 기본형, 추가형, 변화형만 쓰는 “선인들을 따라간다”와 다른 점이고, 박동실이 자신의 <심청가>를 바탕으로 하되, 음악적으로 더욱 심화시켰음을 알 수 있다. 또한 우조의 기본형을 자유자재로 구사함으로써 변조와 변청을 활발하게 진행하였다. 이로써 헌병들과 동포들 간의 상반되는 정서가 이면에 맞게 묘사되었고, 이러한 능숙함이 박동실의 작창력으로 확인되었다.
