Music is the common language of human beings. At the same time, music in different countries also contains their own characteristics and cultural traditions. It is an effective and pleasant way to understand a country's history, ideology and folklore. Therefore, this paper attempts to improve students' language ability as well as their understanding of the Korean culture through the teachings of Korean traditional music. The paper first describes the importance of cultural and artistic content teaching in Korean language instruction, and then discusses the current situations and shortcomings of Korean traditional music in Korean language teaching. Finally, taking Ganggangsulae, a Korean traditional circle-dance game ballad selected as the world cultural heritage, as the research object, it designs the education plan of Korean traditional music for foreign students who study Korean. Through the teaching of Korean traditional music, students' abilities in vocabulary learning, language application and the understanding of Korean traditional culture are expected to be enhanced.

한국어 교육에서 문화교육의 필요성이 강조되면서 문화교육내용 선정에 대한 논의가 활발해지고 있다. 이런 상황에서 외국인 학습자 대상으로 한 문화교육내용이 되는 한국전통문화에 대해 다시 검토한 필요가 있다. 한국 전통음악은 한국문화 중에 가장 중요한 일부분으로서 한국인의 사고방식과 공통적으로 경험한 생활의 애환을 담고 있기 때문에 한국문화를 이해하기에 좋은 자료가 될 수 있는 교육내용이다. 강강술래는 한국 전통음악 중에 전라남도 해안 지역에서 전해져 내려오던 민속놀이로 한국 고유의 정서와 말과 리듬이 잘 담겨있는 한국의 대표적인 민속 예술이다. 2009년 9월 유네스코 세계무형문화유산으로도 등재되어 충분히 외국인 학습자에게 가르칠 만한 자료라고 본다. 본문은 외국인 학습자 대상으로 한국 전통음악 교육을 주목하여, 외국인 학습자들에게 한국전통음악을 효과적으로 지도하는 교육방안을 모색하는데 목적을 두고, 강강술래를 중심으로 구체적 교육내용을 제안하여 체험활동을 통해 흥미롭고 효율적인 한국어 문화교육 방안을 연구하고자 한다.
