This study aimed to examine the relationship between agricultural literacy, life experiences with vegetation, naturalist intelligence, and interest on agricultural news among urban elementary school students. The research questions were to confirm the mediation effect of naturalist intelligence on the relationship between life experiences with vegetation and agricultural literacy; the moderation effect of interest on agricultural news on the relationship between life experiences with vegetation and naturalist intelligence; the conditional indirect effect of interest on agricultural news on the mediation effect of naturalist intelligence. The data from 1,255 students of 48 classes from six urban schools and six sub urban schools were surveyed, among which 929 copies were used. Regression analysis was utilized using PROCESS macro model 7 of Hayes (2013). The results obtained are as follows. Firstly, it has been shown that life experiences with vegetation has a statistically significant mediation effect on the relationship between life experiences with vegetation and agricultural literacy. Secondly, the moderating effect of agricultural news attention has been shown to have a significant effect on the relationship between life experiences with vegetation and naturalist intelligence. Thirdly, it has been found that the conditional indirect effect of interest on agricultural news on the relationship between life experiences with vegetation and agricultural literacy through naturalist intelligence was statistically significant. The study tried to empirically examine the relationship between the influential factors of agricultural literacy. It is important to provide students with an experience that stimulates interest and motivation about agriculture and nurtures naturalist intelligence, which improve agricultural literacy.

이 연구는 우리나라 도시 지역 초등학생의 농업문해, 생활식물경험, 자연지능, 농업소식관심도의 관계를 구명하는데 있었다. 이를 위하여 설정된 연구 문제는 생활식물경험과 농업문해 관계에서 자연지능의 매개효과, 생활식물경험과 자연지능 관계에서 농업소식관심도의 조절효과, 자연지능의 매개효과에 있어 농업소식관심도에 의한 조건부 간접효과를 구명하는 것이었다. 자료를 수집하기 위하여 도시와 중소도시에 무선으로 선정된 12개 학교 48학급 1,255명의 학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고, 총 929부가 분석에 사용되었다. 이후 Hayes(2013)의 PROCESS macro model 7을 적용하여 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 도출된 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자연지능은 생활식물경험과 농업문해의 관계를 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 식물관련 경험과 자연 지능의 관계에서 농업소식관심도의 조절효과는 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 농업소식관심도는 생활식물경험이 자연지능을 매개로 하여 농업문해에 미치는 관계를 조절하고 있었다. 이 연구는 도시지역 초등학생의 농업에 대한 소양이 함양되는데 영향을 미치는 요인에 대한 관계를 실증적으로 구명한 데 의의가 있다. 도시 지역 초등학생 가운데 농업 소식에 관심이 많은 학생일수록 식물과 관련된 경험이 자연지능에 영향을 미치는 정도가 높으며, 이는 농업에 대한 기초적인 지식을 함양하는데 기여한다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 결론 및 시사점에 대하여 논의하였다.
