"Korean College Students’ Identification and Suggestions for Native and Non-Native English Speaking Teachers’ Deficiencies" Much of the research regarding Native English Speaking Teachers (NESTs) and Non-Native English Speaking Teachers (NNESTs) has centered on identifying students’ preference for which group of teachers or the general strengths and weaknesses of each contingent group. Along with this dialogue, another conversation about Teacher Awareness (TA) which has focused on how instructors can analyze the different aspects of their teaching in order to better serve students has been discussed as well. Thus, this study is an attempt to combine these two discussions by focusing on specific deficiencies of both NESTs and NNESTs in order to determine practical suggestions to elevate each group’s best practices. In contrast to previous studies, this research differentiates itself by targeting the suggestions of students rather than reflecting on the cognition or metacognition of the instructors themselves. This article was conducted using a qualitative questionnaire containing open-ended questions given to 29 Korean college students to elicit their opinions regarding NESTs’ and NNESTs’ deficiencies and practical suggestions. The results of this study are as follows: 1) Korean college students were able to identify specific deficiencies of their NEST and NNEST professors; 2) Korean college students were able to recommend real-world ways that each group of teachers can better serve their students within a Korean context.

"원어민 교원과 한국인 교원의 단점에 대한 한국 대학생들의 인식 및 제안" 영어교육에서 원어민 교원과 한국인 교원에 대한 연구는 주로 각 집단의 장점과 단점에 대한 학생들의 인식에 초점을 맞 추고 있다. 이와 함께 교원들이 학생들을 더 잘 지도하기 위해 교육의 다른 측면들을 분석할 수 있는 지에 대한 교사인식에 대한 논의도 진행되어 오고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 이 두 측면을 혼합하여 원 어민 교원과 한국인 교원의 단점에 초점을 맞추어 각 그룹의 단점을 보완하여 최상의 교수 방법을 제시하려는데 목적이 있다. 기존의 연구와는 달리 본 연구는 교원들 자신에 대한 스스로의 인식이 나 인지에 대한 반성이 아니라 학생들의 인식 및 제안을 바탕을 중점으로 하고 있다는 점에서 차별 성을 지닌다. 본 논문은 원어민 교원과 한국인 교원의 단점과 실질적인 제안에 대한 대학생들의 의 견을 도출하기 위해 총 29명의 교양영어를 수강하고 있는 대학생들을 대상으로 설문지를 통한 질적 연구를 실행하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국 대학생들은 각 그룹 교원들의 단점에 대해 인식할 수 있었다. 둘째, 한국 대학생들은 각 그룹 교원들이 한국의 영어 교육 상황에서 학생들 에게 최상의 교수 방법에 대한 실질적인 제안을 할 수 있었다.
