The purpose of this study is to analyze examples of the reorganization of the general education curriculum at C University and to explore the proper direction for general education curriculum reorganization. The following major issues related to general education curriculum reorganization were reviewed by analyzing previous studies. First, the purpose of general education is not clear. Second, university members have little interest or misunderstanding in general education. Third, the university does not have the proper organization to work the general education curriculum. Fourth, research on the general education curriculum is focused on comparative research. Since then, this study has suggested the problems that emerged from C University and the direction of the reorganization of the general education curriculum derived from the practical process to solve them. First, the purpose of the general education curriculum needs to be specified. Second, it is necessary to secure expertise for general education curriculum reorganization. Third, systematicity is necessary for the general education curriculum. Fourth, the subjects of the general education curriculum should be improved. Fifth, it is necessary to secure the academic diversity of general education and to alleviate large deviations between subjects. Sixth, it is necessary to improve the members' awareness of the general education curriculum. Seventh, the policy of cyber lectures needs to be revised. Eighth, stable manpower was needed to improve the general education curriculum. Ninth, a supervisory system for general education curriculum is needed. Efforts taken to solve and overcome the problems C university has shown will help to reorganize the general curriculum of other universities.

본 연구는 교양 교육과정의 개편에서 올바른 방향을 탐색하고자 C대학의 교양 교육과정 개편 의 사례를 살펴보았다. 먼저 선행연구를 분석하여 교양 교육과정 개편과 관련된 주요한 이슈를 분석하였다. 첫째, 교양 교육의 목적이 명확하지 않다. 둘째, 교양 교육에 대한 낮은 관심 또는 잘 못된 이해를 가지고 있다. 셋째, 교양 교육과정을 운영할 적절한 조직을 가지고 있지 않다. 넷째, 교양 교육과정에 대한 연구가 비교연구에 치중되어 있다. 이후 본 연구는 앞서 도출된 교양 교육과정의 이슈를 비추어 C대학의 교양 교육과정 개편의 과정 속에서 나타난 문제들과 이를 해결하는 실제적 과정에서 도출된 교양 교육과정 개편 방향 을 제시하였다. C대학 사례에서 나타난 교양 교육과정 개편의 방향은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교양 교육과정의 목적을 구체화가 필요하다. 둘째, 교양 교육과정 개편을 위한 전문성 확보가 필요하 다. 셋째, 체계적인 교양 교육과정 운영이 필요하다. 넷째, 교양 교육과정의 교과목을 개선이 필요 하다. 다섯째, 교양 교과목의 학문적 다양성을 확보하고 교과목 간 큰 편차를 완화할 필요가 있 다. 여섯째, 교양 교육과정에 대한 구성원들의 인식 개선이 필요하다. 일곱째, 사이버 교양 교과 목의 운영 정책을 개정이 필요하다. 여덟째, 교양 교육과정 운영을 위한 안정적인 인적 자원 확보 가 필요하였다. 아홉째, 교양 교육과정에 대한 관리감독 시스템이 필요하다. C대학이 이들 문제 들을 마주하여 문제를 해결하기 실천했던 노력들이 향후 타 대학의 교양 교육과정 개편의 방향 을 설정하는데 도움이 되고자 한다.
