The purpose of this study is to explore the possibility of liberal music education as a global citizenship education, designing and implementing a concrete program, and examining the problems in the field. First, in order to examine the instructor's concept of global citizenship and the viewpoint on global citizenship education, eight types of global citizens that have been recently distinguished by academia are summarized. Eight global citizenships fall into two broad categories: the first is a cosmopolitan global citizenship and the second is a advocacy global citizenship. The first includes moral global citizenship, political global citizenship, economic global citizenship, and cultural global citizenship, while the latter can be divided into social global citizenship, critical global citizenship, environmental global citizenship, and spiritual global citizenshp. Based upon this typology, global citizenship education is divided into two: soft global citizenship education and critical global citizenship education. Focusing on cultural global citizenship and social global citizenship, critical global citizenship, and environmental global citizenship, this research developed two liberal courses, and . In , I tried to have an idiomatic sensitivity to the difference through understanding different cultures, and at the same time, I tried to accept other cultures as dynamic subjects without recognizing them as stagnant others to cultivate cultural and critical global citizenship. In , I tried to expand the scope of music and derive environmental awareness by bringing the sounds of the environment into the theme, believing that social and environmental global citizenship can be cultivated through critical studing of soundscape. As a result of this study, we could estimate that liberal music education can play its role as a global citizenship education through the design and implementation of the curriculum. It was found that the importance was more urgently needed. In order to develop liberal music education into a behavioral global citizenship education curriculum, further research on more sophisticated problem recognition and solutions is needed.

본 연구에서는 세계시민교육으로서의 교양 음악교육의 가능성을 타진하고, 구체적인 프로그램 을 설계 및 실시하였으며 현장에서의 문제점을 검토하고자 한다. 우선, 교수자의 세계시민에 대 한 개념과 세계시민교육에 대한 입장을 점검하기 위해서 최근 학계에서 구분하는 여덟 가지 유형 의 세계시민을 정리하였다. 여덟 가지 세계시민은 크게 두 가지로 구분되는데, 첫 번째는 코스모 폴리탄 세계시민이며 두 번째는 사회참여적 세계시민이다. 코스모폴리탄 세계시민에 속하는 세계 시민은 도덕적 세계시민, 정치적 세계시민, 경제적 세계시민, 문화적 세계시민이 있으며, 사회참 여적 세계시민에는 사회적 세계시민, 비판적 세계시민, 환경주의적 세계시민, 그리고 영적 세계시 민이 있다. 이를 적용한 세계시민교육의 유형은 온건한 세계시민교육과 비판적 세계시민교육으로 나누어질 수 있는데 열 세 항목에 따라 그 차이점을 살펴보았다. 연구자는 문화적 세계시민, 사회적 세계시민, 비판적 세계시민, 그리고 환경주의적 세계시민 에 주목하였으며 교과목 <월드뮤직의 이해>와 <사운드스케이프로 이해하는 세계>를 개발 및 실 시하여 성찰하였다. <월드뮤직의 이해>에서는 다양한 타문화에 대한 이해를 통해서 다름에 대한 관용적인 감성을 갖추고자 하였으며 이와 동시에 타문화를 정체된 타자로 인식하지 않고 역동적 인 주체로 받아들이려 하였다. 문화적 세계시민과 비판적 세계시민을 함양하기 위해서이다. <사 운드스케이프로 이해하는 세계>에서는 환경의 소리를 주제로 가져오면서 청각의 확장을 도모하 였으며 환경적 인식을 도출하려 하였다. 이는 사회적 세계시민과 환경주의적 세계시민을 배양할 수 있다는 믿음에서이다. 연구의 결과로 교양 음악교육이 세계시민교육으로서 그 역할을 담당할 수 있다는 것을 교과목 설계 및 시행을 통하여 가늠할 수 있었으며, 인지적 영역은 물론 정서적, 행동적 영역에서 예술교 육의 세계시민교육으로서의 필요성과 중요성이 더욱 절실히 요구된다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 향후 교양 음악교육이 실천적인 세계시민교육 교과로 발전되기 위해서는 보다 정교한 문제인식과 해결 방안에 대한 지속적인 연구가 필요하다.
